Wireless Mic System
...alog packs survive alot longer than digital packs. All the fancy digital pushbutton systems are begging to fail, and actors/performers can't resist playing with them. Covers that snap shut over the pushbuttons; the overs are flimsy and the puttins get mashed right through the flimy shield. If sweat gets in, the microprocessor is done. Prefer units that have cheply replacable connectors, and hoard spares. We had one actor who constantly broke connectors because they'd pop apart before he'd run on stage and he couldn't get them back together correctly in haste and on three consecu...

Wireless Mic System

FBSD All-in-one security box?
Hey *, as I sweat through another day of crap dealing with an all-in-one box (firewall, IDS, AVS, report generating, soon to be a VPN server) I'm wondering if someone has started a project to put some freeware together in some semblance of sanity on a FBSD box. There's basically nothing that this box does t...

Being VERY careful while using the --delete option
..._dir on a remote machine. It ends up next to a lot of sibling, directories, like this: On target_machine /parent_path/source_dir /parent_path/source_dir2 .... /parrent_path/source_dirn Here's my issue. I'd like to use the --delete option in the command above. However, I wake up in a cold sweat worrying about supplying the empty string for source_dir, and thus removing souce_dir, and all it's siblings on target_machine. Now I realize, I can just be extra careful that the variable pointing to source_string is never empty, but I would like to have other fail safe mechanisms in place....

NULL elements in lists ... a nightmare
...Instead vectors cannot include NULL element: > vec <- c(TRUE,NULL,FALSE) > vec [1] TRUE FALSE > length(vec) [1] 2 > vec[1] <- NULL Error in vec[1] <- NULL : replacement has length zero Is the above shown behaviour of list data structures to be expected ? I took me a lot of sweat to figure out this wierd behaviour was the cause of a bug in my big program. In general, if I have a list with some elements initialized to NULL, that can be changed dynamically, then how can I reinitialize such elements to NULL without deleting them from the list ? Thank you in advance, Maura...

Frequencies from a matrix - spider from frequencies
First of all, I really like R! Still being a newbie, I find things (the difficult ones) to be very simple. Alas, some 'simple' things still escape me. (Maybe the tutorials are often too much focused on the 'difficult' items??) Here comes my 'problem', over which I have sweated for the last 2 hours: My data are of a matrix 10x31, Likert Scale (1-5). 10 questions, 31 respondents. Now, I want to display the frequencies per question. I have not found any better (any more simple) than for (in in 1.10) print (table(learn[,i])) And then, still, the scale is printed 10 times...

So, Icecast + stunnel is not a good idea? I prefer using 'native' SSL support, but when there isn't, I am very happy using stunnel. > Cheers > > Thomas Cheers,...

Deploying Sites : Capistrano
I have three distinct configurations I need to maintain: - local dev - staging server (for client approval and test) - production server Right now I''m relying on rsync and sweat to get things right. Obviously Capistrano looks like the silver bullet, but it seems to rely on Subversion over http as a dependency. Is this correct? I''m running svn on my local machine and backing it up nightly. I know, bad, bad. Is there a workaround for using Cap on a file:/// repo...

I LOVE IT
After about one weeks time I've gone from no VoIP to a completely configured system for two of our offices to be able to page/communicate interoffice as well as handle existing PSTN communications (okay, waiting onf hardware for the PSTN side and I've likely jinxed myself now). I was sweating getting the two boxes talking to each other and I knocked that out in no time without even needing to look up online, FreePBX makes it to easy. Once my hardphones & TDM400's get here hopefully by the end of this week I'll be in for full blown testing and rapid deployment there afte...

How To Create Database Tables With Merb 0.0.7?
Howdy, I just gem unpacked merb and have configured the sample_app to use an sqlite3 database. I see that the Rakefile has a task named "schema", but it points to /dist/schema/schema1.rb", which doesn''t exist. I copied /dist/schema/schema1.rb to /dist/schema/schema.rb then ran "rake schema". What''s the recommended way to create the database tables?

SKYPE - Authenticate incoming call automatically
...hile ago I finally got around to setting up a server with two channels and setting up a bcp on the skype end. The idea behind this is the following: Users can dial into the PBX, get authenticated and only after authentication get access to internal PBX extensions. I CAN do this with a PIN, no sweat, but from a user perspective it becomes a bit clunky, i.e. password to remember, security in terms of pin leaks, multiple passwords for users, etc. I was wondering if there was a way I could extract the "FROM - USER" and assign it to a variable, then do a lookup of that username in a da...

Active Directory authentication fails
...error I consistently get is "Failed to verify incoming ticket" Using wbinfo I can pull the user and groups from the DC. Using krb5 I can get a good ticket from the DC. I have the winbind options in my smb.conf exactly as listed in the docs. The Linux box did a "net join ads" no sweat. After sitting a while, I no longer get the same error on the Linux box, but the Windows clients get "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request." I imagine something isn't happy with how the Samba box is getting SIDs or something like that from the Wi...

Intel were facing a similar issue bundling OpenZFS with Lustre in their Intel Enterprise Edition for Lustre. They seem to have solved it by having the installer download the OpenZFS package during installation time.
