login from XP
Hello, I'm having a problem logging in to the Samba domain from an XP machine. The machine is added to the domain but after reboot I can't login. I've done the signorseal registry hack but I'm still not able to login. The error I get when logging in is this: "Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or

TDM04B vs Dell revisited
Hi, A week or so ago I wrote about the problems I was having using a Digium TDM04B card in a Dell PowerEdge 750 IU running Fedora Core 1. Digium steadfastly indicates their card won't work in any PowerEdge 650, 700 and 750 series machines "do (sic) to a failure in interrupt handling between the pci bus and the card." My question to the list is: for those of you using a TDM04B

snom 200 and hold
Hi, I've looked through the archives and seen references to placing calls on hold on a snom 200 (any version of the firmware but we have the latest: 2.05e.) Basically, we can't place calls on hold on the snom 200! The manual talks about the Flash button (which is really the "R" button, as far as I can tell.) Pressing the R button will immediately disconnect the incoming call.

Fedora Core 3 app_curl compile error?
Hi, I'm making the latest CVS asterisk source on a newly installed Fedora Core 3 distribution. However, when the makefile for asterisk/apps runs, it generates an error when trying to link app_curl.so complaining about not finding -lidn. Has anyone else run into this problem? I can chase down libidn but I find it odd that others on the list have seemingly gotten asterisk to work on FC3 but

Statistical tests and measures for "cone-like" distributions?
Hi, Are there any special statistical tests, or functions in R I could use to measure "cone-like" distributions? I have several data-sets, which I've been plotting parts of as 2D plots, where I get a "cone-like" distribution of the data points. That is, the data appears to be bounded by two non-parallel lines, starting at the origin, giving rise to a

D-Link DPH-80S vs *
List, The D'Link phones are not reliable at this time. I am trying to get them fix their Firmware to my specifications. It is half done so far. However there are still hurdles. below email is self explanatory. At present if you want to use these phones, you need to buy D'Link's SIP Server and run this as one of your SIP servers in the blend to call to Asterisk. Seshu Kanuri "G

BroadVoice usage?
Hi all, I've been trying to use BroadVoice as a SIP service provider. They don't officially support * but are helpful when it comes to answering questions for setup parameters. They claim they have no firewalls or access lists that need to be set up so I can get access to their servers. However, something's still not quite right when I use the parameters. It looks like our Asterisk

Nufone.net?
Hi, Is anyone else having trouble with their numbers associated with Nufone.net? Our IAX registration with them started failing about two days ago and they have been unresponsive to both emails and phone calls. If one rings the number, one gets a "number is unreachable, please try again" recording... Michael Swan Neon Software, Inc.

Fun with Echo
I've spent the last week or so troubleshooting echo problems at my Wife's business, and I've been able to clear up about 99% of the echo, but there is still a little residual echo that I can't seem to "tweak out". The users describe it as "buzzing or crackling", but what it sounds like to me is a slight echo, but just of one syllable of the word.

TDM04B vs Dell
Hi all, I've struggled for several days trying to get a Digium TDM04B 4-port wxfco card working on a Dell 1U PowerEdge 750 machine running Fedora Core 1. I finally got a call back from Digium who indicated that there is a fundamental conflict between the card and the PowerEdge having to do with PCI interrupts. Asterisk version is stable v1-0 12/29/04. The symptoms of the problem were as

Changing a value in a particular row and column within a text file
Dear list, I need to change a value within a particular line of a plain text file with characters and numbers, and I haven't found any way of doing this by using R. What I have a is a file that doesn't have tabular data (so, I think that 'read.table' or 'read.delim' are not the right tools for this), but some text, and I now exactly the row that has to be modified and the

Fun with Echo -- Follow up
I figured I'd answer my own thread and document what it took to get rid of the echo at my location. For those of you trying to get rid of echo, let me tell you, "what worked for that guy, probably won't work for you". I think we've all heard that before, and it's true. Let me assure you that echo can be removed from your phone lines. At 20 hours into my 40

state of IPSec VPN on CentOS 7: Openswan, strongSwan, RPM packages
I looked in the yum repositories for CentOS 7 and I noticed that there are no packages for any of the major open source IPSec VPN apps - Openswan, strongSwan, etc. I'm pretty sure CentOS 6 had Openswan packages. What is the current consensus w.r.t. building an IPSec VPN "server" (concentrator, whatever) on CentOS 7, that will do site-to-site connections with Cisco hardware at
