Newb to puppet - Solaris svcadm question
...reate a manifest to shut down X Windows on my various and sundry servers. Why? Because that''s the way we roll. Also because SOX standards tell us we have to. /etc/puppet/manifests/classes/cde-login.pp class cde-login { service { cde-login: ensure => ''svcadm disable cde-login'', } } Nothing happens on the client - clearly something is amiss. Am I doing something obviously wrong? I can certainly manually run ''svcadm disable cde-login'' as root and watch X rather dramatically stop working on my test machine (grin). B...

Solaris 10 Jumpstart instructions on the wiki now
...MF fine when the system is already up and running, but the lack of a running svc.configd means they don''t register themselves in a Jumpstart. I''ve hacked around this by symlinking his manifest under /var/svc, but is there any way to detect running in a Jumpstart and modify the svcadm command accordingly? -- Mike Renfro / R&D Engineer, Center for Manufacturing Research, 931 372-3601 / Tennessee Technological University

zfs set sharenfs=on
I started sharing out zfs filesystems via NFS last week using sharenfs=on. That seems to work fine until I reboot. Turned out the NFS server wasn''t enabled - I had to enable nfs/server, nfs/lockmgr and nfs/status manually. This is a stock SXCR b49 (ZFS root) install - don''t think I''d changed anything much. Shouldn''t a ZFS share be permanently enabling NFS?

Opensolaris domU unable to get dhcp lease
I''m running a ubuntu 9.04 64 bit dom0 with kernel 2.6.29.6 and xen 3.4.0. My eth0 is bridged to br0 and to my guest VMs. The dom0 is running a dhcp server on br0 which is able to provide leases to physical machines on eth0, and also to a windows xp domU which is bridged to br0. However my open solaris 2009.6 domU is unable to obtain a dhcp lease. On the opensolaris side I can see this:
