protocol for "Surge MAX"
I am sorry if this is an FAQ, but there doesn't seem to be searchable
archives, and the supported manufacturer's list doesn't include "surge
master". Google was also not much help.
I have just put a Linux box and the customer has a "surge max " UPS.
Anyone any ideas what protocol it uses? There is a Green serial cable.
The manufacturers web site is here:

Sipura spa-2000 / 3000: surge protection
I am located in the UK, and I am using Sipura spa-2000 adapters to
connect analog phones to a voip network. The network connects to the
PSTN as well via the Sipura spa-3000 adapter.
I would like to provide surge protection for the spa-2000 and the
spa-3000 adapters.
1. For spa-2000, fxs port: What is the maximum tip-to-ring voltage
before damage to the the adapter occurs?
2. For spa-2000, fxs port: What is the maximum voltage between both legs
and ground before damage to the the adapter occurs? (I hav...

surge protector?
I lost one channel on an FXO module on a Sangoma A200 card due to a
lightening zap in the area (well - it died the same night as a major
thunder storm came through).... Is there a recommended/standard
surge protector for phone lines I should be using? My server has 2
POTS lines.
thanks

To update() or not to update()?
Hi,
Suppose I have:
# Fit a base model
d1.ph <- coxph(Surv(start, stop, event)~

data = data.frame(foo))
summary(update(d1.ph, . ~ . + td1))
summary(update(d1.ph, . ~ . + td2))
As I have many columns in my data frame, foo, called td's. e.g. td1, td2,
td3, .... And I'd like to

recommendations for RJ-11 surge supressors?
I'd like to protect my expensive Digium FXO cards from spikes on my

compaq r3000 triggering the fuse when power is reconnected
...e for new batteries.
Before I go and splash out a few hundred francs, I'd just need a quick
sanity check -
when I disconnect the power (UPS under load), it cuts out pretty much
right away, so the batteries are flat (even though the charge indicator
says full). When I reconnect the power, the surge triggers a 16A mains
fuse. This sounds to me to be due to the batteries being completely
flat and thereby causing a major surge on startup? Sounds reasonable?

Extreme Value Bivariate Point Process Model
...I am looking at the bivariate point process model for extreme values as
described in Section 8.3.2 of Coles book. I am stuck at a very low
level in being unable to reproduce the initial step of transforming the
data to unit Frechet margins. In particular, I am unable to
reproduce the wave-surge pairs distribution after transformation to
Frechet scale (Figure 8.6 of Coles book). Here is what I am doing:
library(ismev)
data(wavesurge)
wave <- wavesurge[,1]
surge <- wavesurge[,2]
plot(wave,surge, pch=20) ## reproduces Coles fig 1.11
## do the GEV fit
w <- gev.fit(wave)

Power-outage
...the electricity
went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion.
My server, an HP MicroServer,
came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions,
but not on the third.
I assume that the problem arises because the machine
does not close down properly.
(Although it is also possible that a voltage surge
might have been responsible -
I have no surge protector on this supply.)
It seems to me that it should be possible
to have a simple, torch-battery operated, system
which will keep the machine alive long enough
to make a graceful exit.
A full-blown UPS would be excessive, I think,
as I only want th...

FCC/Euro/Aussie approvals on TE410P
I just got back from Boston where we completed testing of the TE410P for
FCC, Euro, and Australian approvals, and I'm happy to say we passed all
our approvals (including Q.921 and Q.931 layers, i.e. libpri as well as
surges) for both telco and leased line applications. Hopefully we'll have
the official documents soon, but I know there are a lot of you out there
that are happy to hear that.

Asterisk and 802.11g
...when this box tries to bridge the call with a PSTN extension,
voice is completely broken. And it's not because of the cheap X100P - when
I ping the box, round trip is >4,000 ms, most of the time causing timeout.
Once the call hangs up, ping time dropped to 1-2 ms. Ping time started to
surge even when FXO is simply ringing.
If VoIP to VoIP extension call uses re-invite (which it did), voice is also
good in the Console channel.
How can voice traffic stall 802.11g? (I haven't checked, but CODEC is likely
ulaw.)

Spam in Bugzilla
Hi!
There is surge of spam bug reports with support phone numbers of
various companies. I remember couple of such reports made ~ 2-3 weeks
ago.
I think will be good idea to block IP-addresses or their range, if
Bugzilla support this, since a-mails are different.

complaining. To save lots of checkout/test cycles can a message be

Zaptel card AND Ztdummy together?
I had a weird (unforeseen) situation today. We have a remote office with an * server and ISDN 10 service. We connect to each other over an IAX trunk
with G729.
Today, some of Sydney experienced a power surge which knocked out their ISDN services. Without a clock source on their PRI card, my IAX calls to them
resulted in one-way audio (they could hear me, but I not them).
Is it possible to load *both* the relevant card driver *and* ztdummy to guard against this occurrance?

[LLVMdev] LLVM on OpenBSD
...t 4 times a bus-error during the build? In this case,
it cannot be a LLVM problem.
In the linux-community, people say that bus-error's are almost
always because of faulty hardware, e.g. problem with DRAM
timing, overheated CPU, power-supply that cannot provide enought
power during current surges, things like that.

grounded and has surge suppression modules attached, the cable that runs
from their demarc to our punch-down block is in grounded metal conduit

punch-down block to the wall jack also does not run anywhere near
anything electrical, and everything is...
