Creation of additional image within a domU
Chaps, Perhaps this question is a little basic for this list but I''m not really sure of the simplest method or best tool for the job. I''ve created some images with `dd=/dev/zero ....` and I''m using them for the domUs now. Some of them have been running for a few months with no probs. Trouble is that I''d like to create a separate partition within the domU...

[PATCH] appliance: Make sure /tmp and /var/tmp are real directories.
Currently if /tmp (on the host) is a symlink, then the symlink is copied into the appliance, probably pointing to a non-existent directory, and everything goes downhill from there. Avoid this by making sure that /tmp and /var/tmp are real directories. --- appliance/init | 5 +++++ 1 file changed, 5 insertions(+) diff --git a/appliance/init b/appliance/init index 3c5ef1b..3973f18 100755 --- a/appliance/init +++ b/appliance/init @@ -10,6 +10,11 @@ RUNLEVEL=S PREVLEVEL=N export RUNLEVEL PREVLEVEL +...

Pragmatically, that works (as I'm sure you know). Digging into the legalities of C99 I'm not sure that it's guaranteed to work, though. Unknown directives actually match the "non-directive" case in the grammar in 6.10; while nothing is said anywhere about semantics that I can find, I'm not sure why gcc...

Want to help Wine and prevent regressions in your favorite (downloadable) app?
Howdy all, For Google Summer of Code, I worked on a project I called Appinstall, which is basically an automated test framework for Wine. It works as a simple shell script, that runs several independent tests of applications, then parses the log files to make sure no applications broke, or bugs were fixed. The tests themselves are written using AutoHotKey (http://www.autohotkey.com). The neat thing about AutoHotKey is it takes pretty much no programming skill to write a simple test for your favorite application. So if you really love Foobar Text Editor, and...

CentOS or other Linux Internet Router/Gateway
Hi Everyone, I've got kids who are growing older and I want to build a Linux box to filter Internet access. I've got six computers on the Internet, plus the laptops -- most run Windows. I'm not sure if it's called a router or gateway or...? I don't mind doing the leg work, I just don't know where to start. I'm pretty sure I'm *not* looking for a web server (though it might be fun to have a local web) -- I might also use the computer for a file server, but I mostly want a.....
