Profili Pro software needs mdb file?
...good alternative. Been running Ubuntu for 3 years but this is above my expertise. Profili is airplane wing profile software that will generate G-code for a CNC router. When I try to get it to run under WIne it gives me this error and quits... "Impossible to open database C:\windows\profiles\superbug\My Documents\Profilipro\Libraries\ProfiliProNoPolar.mdb." The file is present at the location that it calls for but the program must need something else other than a file at that location. I searched the archives and tried the commands winetricks jet40 and winetricks mdac28 in a terminal wind...

bzImage size limits?
Hi, What the the size limit of booting bzImage file with syslinux ? I have tested different sized bzImage files, and when the files are small <800K, they work with syslinuz, but at some size larger they fail to work. This was the same problem loadlin1.6 had, but loadlin1.6c fixes the issue, and I can boot bzImage sizes up to 1.5Meg with loadlin, but syslinux fails. Can you confirm this

Bug-report: Booting DOS images from USB
Hi, I'm doing a small hobby project writing some tools to put DOS boot images and Linux rescue images on a USB stick. For this I have partitioned my USB stick in 2 partitions, one 192MB partition with a VFAT filesystem (for the normal use) and a second partition with an ext3 filesystem. My aim was to provide a graphical menu (grub) to access the different images using memdisk. Since

Suggestion for improving syslinux man page.
I would suggest putting this syslinux web page info near the top of the man page. I was using debian, which has all the linux images being linux.bin. So, to make my own boot disk, I thought I would just copy bzImage to the floppy as linux.bin. Big mistake, if one does that it will not work, and one gets output like: - 0400 AX:0208 BX:0200 CX:0002 DX:0000 etc. Just renaming

Booting from a USB flash memory stick.
Hi, This might be a bit off topic, but I hope people can help anyway. I have a USB 256Mb Memory stick. I have created an ext2 partition on it, and have saved files to it. I have stored a kernel image on it, together with an /etc/lilo.conf file. When I run lilo, if writes lilo to the boot sector of the flash disk. When I try to boot into linux using the USB Memory stick, I get a single

Using Linux as a first/second stage boot.
Hi, I have a laptop that can boot from the network, but not from a CD or USB device. I was wondering if there was a way to netboot the linux kernel, and then type a command that would restart the boot process, but boot from the CD instead, and use the previous linux kernel's CD rom driver to read the new kernel image, and therefore boot from the CD in just the same way a BIOS would.
