Hiera, OSSEC and per-node stuff?
Hi. I have an interesting use case. OSSEC is security tool based on server-client architecture. Server generates keys for agents, and every agent has different key. Now I want to distribute these keys via puppet. I''ve come accross hiera and installed it, and it works superbly, but how to store per-node key in hiera? This is my idea: hiera, yaml: --- :hierarchy: - ossec/%{hostname} - %{operatingsystem} - common :backends: - yaml :yaml: :datadir: ''/etc/puppet/hieradata'' And now in /etc/puppet/hieradata/ossec I have a bunch o...

[LLVMdev] git Status Update?
...le contents. I guess you have to rebase (pull --rebase or so) your branches. "git rebase" is relatively smart, and will skip patches that you already have in your local branch. I never used a mirror like LLVM's one (my contribution to LLVM boils down to sending two patches that were superbly ignored by the list and wait patiently on the bugtracker ^^), but when contributing a patch to Git itself, one gets a similar effect: the local patches are sent as email, applied by the maintainer, and get a different sha1 when you pull. git rebase works like a charm in this setup (well, no big su...

samba 3.0.4 problem in getting userlist to set acls on windows xp
...e following options configured at compile time: ./configure --with-acl-support --with-smbclient --with-sm bmount --with-quota --with-ads --with-tdbsam I am just trying to provide acl support to my users, and I know that acls are working properly on the linux machine (setfacl and getfacl work superbly!). Samba acl support is compiled in properly (as verified by smbd -b | grep -i acl). Still, I am having a very strange problem. If a file has acls set on it in linux itself, the owner or root can modify these permissions, and they are properly set in the linux machine. However, if I try to a...

Seasonal smoothing of data with large gaps (mgcv)
Hi, I have a set of measurements that are made on a daily basis over many years. I would like to produce a *non-parametric* smooth of these data to estimate the seasonal cycle - to achieve this, I have been using the cyclic cubic splines from the mgcv package. This works superbly in most situations, but not all. The problem is that for various practical reasons the data is not available all year around at some sites - in some cases only in summer for example. The code below (hopefully) should give you an indication of the problem. #Setup set.seed(42) n <- 500 #Generat...

R 3.5.0 binaries for Debian and Ubuntu
...ue language): C-LEVEL FACILITIES: [...] * The object header layout has been changed to support merging the ALTREP branch. This requires re-installing packages that use compiled code. - To repeat: You *must* reinstall every binary package. - This means eg that the vast and superbly useful collection in Michael's c2d4u repo continues to work with R 3.4.* (for which it was built) but will not work with the new R 3.5.*. Do not mix and match. - Debian is even more adamant about this, and fellow maintainers made me add a binary tag to every package: r-api-3.4 for the...

More Broadvoice woes. Who's fault could this be?
Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the correct mailing list for this (I was going to send to Asterisk-Biz, but seems more for this one). Anyway, I'm having more problems with Broadvoice. I still can't get calls unless I comment out the secret= line in sip.conf, but now I can't even place test calls to it from my cell phone. When I do, I get a fax macine. Debugging SIP shows NO

using tc to drop packets based on the diffserc or tos value
Hi all, I am wondering if anyone can help me to resolve a problem. I am trying to use tc command in linux to drop udp packets of specific diffserv value. I am able set diffserv value successfully in the udp packet using command:- [root@scotch src]#iptables --table mangle --append OUTPUT \ --out-interface eth0 --protocol udp --source-port 5060 \ --jump DSCP --set-dscp 8 but i am not able to

[Fwd: Re: Organisation of medium/large projects with multiple analyses]
...ll my work files on two separate computers, and I keep the two in synchrony automatically by judicious updating and merging. My main writing is in LaTeX and clearly version control excels for these plain text documents. I really would recommend it! I've used TortoiseSVN on Windows, and it works superbly, although on my primary machine (Mac), I just use the command line. My scripts tend to break because I fiddle with the database schema to support some new analysis, and then when I revisit old scripts they tend to work. Based on all the advice, I shall have to factor out the database connection a...

Big matrix memory problem
Hi All, I want to read 256 1000x1000 matrices into R. I understand that it is unlikely that I can do this but In the hope that somebody can help me I am mailing this list. I have tried increasing my memory size (I understand that it is the minimum of 1024 or the computers RAM in my case 512) Does anyone think this is possible in R, could it be tried in Splus for example. Any help is

new ATA box for sale by Linksys
Fry's Electronics has a new Linksys 2 line ATA box for sale for $59.99 retail. They have a version with a router for $89.99. We picked the non-router version up and it seems to be a rebadged Sipura SPA-2000. The box has a Vonage service package inside as well, but it does work with other services. The box also has a "User Guide" meant for end-users that is very well written [no

Reminiscing on 20 years using S
I realized earlier this year (2007) that it was in 1987 that I first started using an early version of S (it was ported to VMS and was called success). That means that I have been using some variant of S (to various degrees) for over 20 years now (I don't feel that old). Since things are a bit slow this time of year I thought I would take a few minutes and reminisce on some of the changes

I'm trying to use plotting character to encode the variable "block" from my dataset in a conditioned lattice graphic (R 1.9.0 on Mac OS 10.3.3). The data I'm using is the dataframe "dryoutcover" which is here (4k): http://anthony.darrouzet-nardi.net/downloads/dryoutcover.Rdata The code that generates my graphic almost correctly is as follows: xyplot(coversage ~

Tabulation with ENTER key
Dear all, I think this can be interesting for others too. For a while I tried to solve that problem - how to tabulate with ENTER/RETURN key too and not only with TAB. You know the problem - you are entering a lot of numbers from numeric keypad but you need to go far left to press TAB. This prevents one-hand data entry and prohibits web apps to be used by accountants, for instance. Here is a

Cisco 79xx series IP phones
Shawn, That's a complete load of manure. I have an office full of 7960's, they work great with asterisk with the SIP images loaded. I'm about to pick up a lot of 7912's (simple one line phones, same as the 7905 but it has a built in switch). These phones have also been confirmed to work with Asterisk. I would recommend not going directly to cisco, and just find a reseller who

Possible to push changes to nodes?
Dear readers, When I have made a change to a template, class or file, is it then possible to push this change to the node(s), so they get the changes now? I would like to be able to push the change from the master, and not have to login to each node and pull. Is that possible?
