Newbie question on file source
...c/local/systctl" from
"/services/puppet/common/etc/local/sysctl" on the server. But instead of
it, strangely enough an empty /etc/local/systctl directory were created on
the client machine.
Is it a feature or a misconfiguration on my part?
Best regards,
Jozsef

Incompatibility with eudora
...a message is downloaded but not deleted."
The old mails of our eudora users contain exactly this flag combination:
Status: RO
Could the compatibility problem somehow be fixed? Currently our system is
pretty unusable for the users :-(
Thank you and best regards,

Severe pop3 incompatibility report
...w-pop3d/imapd to dovecot.]
That is absolutely devastating, especially for home users behind a
modem line. We spent a full week with trying to find a workaround with
eudora: no avail. The only solution remained was to revert back to
uw-pop3d. :-(
Best wishes,

upgrading puppet?
How are people upgrading puppet itself on their hosts that run puppetd?
Can puppet be used to upgrade to a new puppet package via gem, rpm or
some other package provider? How do you handle restarting?
Just hoping theres a better way than "ssh and a for loop" or having to
have another configuration management system installed.

Definition specialization
There was a discussion a while ago about adding inheritance to
definitions. There is a need for a way to specialize parameters while
allowing passing other options. This comes up with remotefile where
it would be nice to have a default server location but not specify all
the parameters (and their defaults) in the definition.
Was there a change to the syntax? Is there a way to accomplish this?

Testing modules
There''s definitely enough complexity in some of the modules out there to
warrant solid test coverage, especially if people start extending a module
to support more distributions and OSes, while trying to keep the existing
support working. That''s even before you start thinking about functions,
facts, and native types. They''re *really* in need of solid testing, being

Hello People.
We are trying to run Samba 2.0.9 on a Sun Sparc running
Solaris 7. Nothing fancy - just disc and printer
sharing.
It almost works perfectly . . .
Except:
The processes that start on the Sunserver when a user
logs in on a PC DO NOT terminate when that user logs
out. The result is a ridiculous number of smb
processes running for a fairly small number of PCs.
Users are experiencing uncertain access to disc shares;
failure to find and/or save files to shares etc.
Has anyone run across thi...
