Lost sunglasses at PuppetConf
Hi folks, sorry about this unusual email but I wasn''t sure where else
to send this.
I just attended PuppetConf 2011 in Portland. On the last day near the
end of the conference, I found a pair of sunglasses in the main
auditorium. I stowed them in my backpack intending to find out if
there was a lost and found, but I confess that I completely forgot
about them until I found them after getting home. I looked them up
online and found that they are relatively expensive sunglasses. If

New CentOS/RHEL group on Facebook
...o competing CentOS groups on Facebook. The "main"
group is managed by a small group of autocrats with very unilateral
communication skills. The other one is not managed at all, judged by the
amount of non-CentOS-related stuff published there (Ubuntu tutorials,
Windows games, cheap Ray-Ban sunglasses).
I was a bit frustrated by this state of things, the more so since I've
successfully managed the Slackware Linux Facebook group for a couple of
years, regulating publications, keeping folks on topic and banning the
odd spammer.
So I decided to do the same thing I would do in a software devel...

Trying to run Touhou 8
Hey, I have Darwine and it works well with most applications. However, I've tried to play Touhou 6 and 8 but after clicking the .exe files, Darwine says it has encountered a serious error and needs to close. It then tells me to look at the log files, this is what appeared after I tried to open th08.exe

Missing menus in windows after update
...tly someone decided that everyone
loves special effects, and can't live without them, so they are often
turned on by default. [Much as they decided that the only use-case for
laptops is watching movies and so you can only get WS LCD's now, and
that brightness == quality, so you have to wear sunglasses when
looking at any modern displays, but I digress.] As I try to stay away
from ubuntu & co, I don't really know what the defaults are these
days. But if it includes gnome-shell, that definitely likes to use GL.
Not sure if you can tell it not to...

PAM function ordering
Dear all,
I've been looking into hacking with some PAM modules, and thought I could
learn from the OpenSSH source (it's probably the closest thing to a
canonical cross-platform consumer of the API).
One thing I've noticed I don't understand though is how OpenSSH's
invocation of do_pam_session/setcred can work (in main of the process
forked in sshd.c). Ignoring privsep for the

Tar Compression issue
I have a file Server CentOS 5.10, its on the internet, so I compress all csv
into one file using (tar -czvf compressed_files.tar.gz *.csv) on this
server so that I can download them as one compressed file to save bandwidth,
Disk space on this server available is 50Gig, so when I copy the files onto
Redhat EL 5.9 and decompress them using (tar -zxvf *.gz) It decompresses
maybe 80% then get error:

It isn't. Wireless is much noisier and uses longer wavelengths than
light. It is like walking through a hall of mirrors with sunglasses
on. You are only able to see certain things, lots of things reflect,
everything within sensor range which is broadcasting is showing up
even if it is a different SSID, and a ton of other items. This means
that where you might only need 2 sensors for light, you need dozens to
hundreds for radio wave...
