Field Definition for objectSid (LDAP)
...it comes in packed or encrypted in some fashion. Since dumping the users using the command "net ads search '(&(objectClass=person)(objectCategory=person))'" gets me an unscrambled objectSid, I figure someone out there knows how to put it into human-readable form. SSH and winbind authentication on Solaris 10
...0. I have it working on Solaris 8 with telnet, but I'm trying to break my users of telnet. Has anyone got it working? If so, would you be willing to share the global section of your smb.conf and pam.conf with me? Is there something I need to put in one of the ssh configuration files? smb_panic after upgrading
...es running 3.0.20 without any problems, but I compiled those myself and didn't use a pre-compiled binary. And (yuck!) I can't find the 3.0.14 rpms to do a rollback. The install CD would roll it back to 3.0.4, which I don't want to do. Help on either issue would be appreciated. Sid S-0-0 is not in a valid format
Hi all, I'm trying to get winbind going on a different PC to the one I've already got working, but I can't figure out why winbind won't work on this other PC. It mostly works (wbinfo works, net ads testjoin reports OK) but "getent passwd" doesn't return anything. The winbind log reports this: [2006/01/17 15:27:15, 1] nsswitch/winbindd.c:main(976) winbindd

Network throughput slowdown - need help
HELP!!! Over the last few weeks, my samba throughput has slowed down big-time. I have checked out the hardware. Network Operations has checked out the port, no joy. I have copied the same file over NFS and and Samba. The throughput is about half over Samba vs. NFS. The only error messages I see are the infamous string_to_sid messages that I have seen many questions about, and absolutely no
