Bug#695645: xen-utils-common: xm block-attach does not create /dev/xvd* devices on dom0
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 4.1.3-6
Severity: minor
Dear Maintainer,
I am trying to run the following command on a dom0 Debian server in order to mount a vmware vmdk. I don't want to use kpartx or losetup as they have poor write performance and I'm hoping blktap will provide better performance.
xm block-attach 0 tap:vmdk:/mnt/backup/3MSYDDP01/3MSYDDP01_2-flat.vmdk /dev/xvda1 w 0

debian xen 4.1 and 3.8.x kernel (from experimental)
I''m trying to get ceph working with decent performance (currently getting kb/second write performance!) and it seems that maybe the Debian wheezy kernel is just a bit too ancient.
The 3.8 kernel from experimental works on bare metal, but when booting as dom0 under the xen hypervisor it crashes.
I just figured out how to redirect xen output to my IPMI/BMC serial port and I see this:

xenstore situation
...paths. This default was changed.
The current version defaults to using socket access. Because the daemon
now may get relative paths, it changed to make it absolute on its
own[1]. This means that a current libxenstore is not compatible with
older xenstored.

Bug#398595: IPv6 is unusable with the network-bridge script
Package: xen-utils-3.0.3-1
Version: 3.0.3-0-2
Severity: important
After installing Xen and setting up
(network-script 'network-bridge netdev=eth0')
I no longer have a sane IPv6 address in the dom0:
inet6 2001:700:300:d03f:fcff:ffff:feff:ffff/64 scope global dynamic valid_lft 2591977sec preferred_lft 604777sec
This is probably since xenbr0 has a MAC address of
fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff;

DomU clock out of sync
Hey all,
I was watching some logs on a domU today and i suddenly noticed that the
timestamps were off by something on the order of 47 seconds. I was
surprised because *I don''t* run independent wall clocks. I checked
some other domUs and the "drift" was also very close to that of the
first domU.
I also checked another dom0, Here the domUs were "only" out of sync by

CCP Believes Australian Government Can Be Bought
...ut I did not do any work. I didnt think
this was the kind of job that a true policeman would do. Whenever I could
no longer read the materials and wanted to walk around, seniors in the
office who were quietly reading the newspaper would turn around and look
at me. I felt suffocated.
The seniors at the 610 Offices are CCP cadres who have worked for years
in the department of administration and security. According to Hao, they
regard punishing dissidents for the CCP as their career. They do not trust
the young men who have transferred from local o...

Dovecot namespace solved while writing; preparing to refilter
Hi!
My plea to readers:
===================
Pls., people who only want strictly technical issues to read, and frown
at any
broader context regardless how intrinsically related, but not strictly
technically related, it might be, skip all the way, all the way to,
search for
exact words: "strictly technical" or visually, find two lines of sole
"==="
characters. Thank you!
