I've just tried "wine MS\ .net\ framework\ SDK\ -\ with\ C-sharp\ compiler\
Setup.exe"
and it told me that it couldn't install on Win95, Win98 etc, and I'd have to
upgrade to NT 4.0 before it would install.
Any hints, ideas, previous experience on configuring Wine for suchlike?
Thanks

Winehq / WineX?
...s an incredibly simple question, but I don't think I've seen
anyone in this NG ask about it as best I can remember.
Basically, what's the pros/cons of WineX over the standard version from
Winehq? I have no problems with compiling from source, but in terms of
application support and suchlike, could anyone with experience with both
versions of WINE give any advice?

Advice on BT ISDN Services (UK)
Hi all,
I've been playing about with Asterisk for years now on and off, just SIP to SIP calls, using FWD and suchlike. I'm moving house at the beginning of September and have decided to build an Asterisk based system for my home office.
I'm in the UK and wonder if anyone can give me advice on lines and hardware to use. Had planned to go with an ISDN2e line coupled with a BT Speedway ISDN card [1] from e...

Odd diagnostic plots in mixed-effects models
Dear R community,
In the excellent nlme package the default diagnostic plot graphs the innermost residuals against innermost fitted values. I recently fit a mixed-effects model in which there was a very clear positive linear trend in this plot.
I inferred that this trend occurred because my fixed effect was a two-level factor, and my random effect was a 12-level factor. The negative residuals

IIRC they lower it themselves, doing whatever the ABI says they
should, which is usually adding a hidden sret parameter to the
function once you get beyond small structs. It'd be nice to move some
of that logic back into LLVM, but it's tricky because C99

...I added a sanity check.
Secondly, it should be possible to make it such that just the spinlock
suffices. The following few patches make the main pipe read/write routines
use the spinlock so as not to be interfered with by notification insertion.
I didn't roll the spinlock out to splice and suchlike since I prohibit
splicing to a notifications pipe because of the iov_iter_revert() fun.

The process of configuring two instances of dovecot on the same machine
serving different views of the same mailbox was faily complex, so I
think it would be worth documenting the process in an FAQ or suchlike
for other users.
I thought a good place to write up my method would be in the HowTo

account to edit the Wiki, or should I send a draft text to an editor?
Are there any Dovecot experts here who can review my methods and suggest

[LLVMdev] Pass and return of large objects
Well yes, LLVM is Turing complete :-) but I take your point, one could
in a pinch hack the same functionality in the front-end. Would that
likely be easier or harder than doing it properly in the code
generator? Other things equal, of course the latter would be
preferable.
How do LLVM-GCC and Clang handle it?

Okay, so we seem to be saying sret or suchlike is how you pass and
return large objects by value in LLVM.
What exactly counts as large? As I understand it, the largest integers
correctly handled as first-class values are the size of two pointers,
i.e. usually either 64 or 128 bits. Is the same true of structs?

I do rotating backups of the entire 'running' fs on all my linux
machines (ie: server data drives, ~/.ccache/, squid cache & suchlike all
excluded). Friday past, I installed rsync 3.0.0pre2 & upgraded
glibc-zoneinfo (slackware update that I finally got around to dealing
with) on all my machines. The next set of backups (00:00 Saturday)
immediately started throwing the above error, all in
/usr/share/zoneinfo/. Interestingly,...
