pretty much the orignal input back or you could also convolve it to match
your own speaker layout and get better results than you would with the
orignal 5.1 material.
My only problem right now is with the LFE (subwoofer channel). I had been
intending to just mix it into the W signal, which I think matches the
intent of the channel. Obviously this really couldn't be recovered on
decode.
My alternative is to use a seperate LFE channel in the vorbis stream,
which is just ugly.
So, what I'm looking for is so...

better on my subwoofer.

Multichannel files
Hi,
As I´ve understood things, the Ogg Vorbis format supports more that two
channels (stereo). Is there any tools to encode x sourcefiles into one .ogg
file?
I am a musican and am thrilled with the ide of makeing music in surround
(or in more than stereo).
This leads to my next question: is there (developing) any decoders for
multichannel oggs to, let us say, 4.1 or 5.1 surround? Wouldn´t it

If not, is it possible for Asterisk to keep 2 separate calls, or pairs

<p>Also does anybody have a test pattern wave in 5.1 or 7.1? A wave where first you
hear a sound in the front left, then one in the front right, then one in the
front center, then in the subwoofer ... etc.?
This would simplify my tests alot.

Idea to possibly improve flac?
Cool, thanks for all the great comments.
I think we agree now on that the "find mp3 before encoding" feature would not be a good idea to implement in the flac core. As Brian pointed out, it might be a better idea to create a program that automatically checks if a flac might have been an mp3 source.
My first suggestion was to use FFT, because I know that 128kbps mp3 have a low-pass
