Setting Separate File server from Samba PDC
I'm aim to set up a file server that is separate from my SAMBA PDC. I've had no problem setting file server up, and joining it to he domain using smbpasswd. Can I use winbind with a SAMBA PDC or is it meant only for Windows NT servers. When creating shares on this file server, I need to allow permissions to various groups and or users. How can I do this. Do I need to set up NIS? Thank

nmb log file entry
Hi, I am getting this log entry in the nmb.log file. Any ideas why I am getting it? query_name_response: Multiple (2) responses received for a query on subnet 9.36. 220.43 for name WHITE<1d>. This response was from IP 9.36.223.255 Thanks Chip

one opinion about searching samba docs for answers
It sure is hard to find info in the documentation/mailing list for a specific error. If an error log message was created by smbd, nmbd, or winbind, shouldn't the documentation contain a description, cause, and possible solution?
