This is my wine day: subpixel-AA is here
This makes may day; it actually makes my week! I can't believe the genius wine developers have implemented subpixel font anti-aliasing in 1.1.12! All the apps look 100 times better now! I have opened Word 2003 about 10 times today just to look at the new beautiful UI! I have waited for this ever since I started using wine (~ 2006). This is my personal wine day! Thank so much, wine developers and everyone here -...

Subpixel font rendering in 1.1.12
The announcement for Wine 1.1.12 says that support for subpixel font rendering has been added. The question is, how can we use it? Is there a way to enable it globally (there's no such setting in winecfg).

Subpixel by default?
Hi. I know that subpixel rendering is supported in wine. However, it is not turned on on default setting. You have to add this to registry: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "FontSmoothing"="2" "FontSmoothingType"=dword:00000002 "FontSmoothingGamma"=dword:00000578...

Problem getting subpixel AA font rendering to work
Hi... I'm running Debian 5 (Lenny) and using wine packages from http://www.lamaresh.net/apt lenny main, which contains wine version 1.1.12. I've installed MS Office 2003 without problems, but when I start up word the fonts are choppy/blocky/what-have-you, but certainly not being AA. I came across a thread on this forum that suggested adding a file to the registry. I can do that on

Text sometimes missing on NV18 based laptop
Hi, On my NV18 based laptop I experience artifacts related to text (however, 2D performance is really great these days): - With grayscale AA text is sometimes missing, often visible on the XFCE desktop - With subpixel (rgb) AA, even non-text related occur (icons are misrendered, ...) I've reported the issues here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81283 With noaccel it works fine, however it is annoyingly slow. Is there anything I could try to track these issues down? Best regards, Clemens

tiff() and antialias option
I was wondering if someone could help with the antialias option in tiff(). I'm running R 2.9.2 on a Linux machine. I'm working on creating a tiff file and have tried different antialias parameters, e.g. default, none, gray, and subpixel, but don't seem to be seeing a difference in the output. Or perhaps I'm missing something obvious? Thanks, Andrew [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Office 2007: Arial font problem
Hello, I installed Office 2007 Professionnal and get an issue (Wine 1.1.42 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10). I tried to fix it by installing core fonts and so on but nothing changed. Please have a look at this screenshot: [Image: http://i46.tinypic.com/2ldc13m.jpg ] As you see, the arial font looks awful. Did anyone managed to fix it ? Regards, RedVivi

Font anti-aliasing in wine?
...set somewhere? Also, in a Word document, if I select a magnification which renders a certain font with AA, the same characters would not be AA'ed for italic letters. ??? The AA I have seen happen in wine is a simple AA only ("grayscale"). Ultimately, of course, one would like to see subpixel-AA (like ClearType in Windows) in wine applications, which is now widely available on linux through freetype2. Can that be switched on in wine? Any thoughts/ideas/knowledge about AA under wine would be interesting. Thanks very much. --hasi.

Since wine-1.2-rc2, the wine fonts have not been working correctly. They are all smudged up, and text in certain applications is very hard to read. Fonts in Wine again
...I can not find any possibility to disable rendering of internal bitmaps in TTF. Sometimes the text looks very ugly, especially when i'm using different languages in the same text, but bitmaps exist only for English. So far the only way to avoid this is to remove bitmaps via FontForge. 2) While subpixel antialiasing works pretty good, it seems that autohinting is disabled or not sufficient. At least for the same document in OpenOffice I have _much_ better rendering than in MS Office. I tried to search for a solution, but I was not successful. Any help will be much appreciated.
