RPM Spec and subpackage architecture
Are there any RPM wizards out there that know how to specify a
different architecture for a subpackage in a spec file?
I have a package that has a binary component and a non-binary
component that I would like split into 2 packages one, the
binary which is architecture dependant and the other 'noarch'.
I haven't found a spec file that does this yet :-(

php-mcrypt extension
I see that there are a plethora of php extensions available as rpms,
from the centos repositories, but not the php-mcrypt extension. I'm
trying to stick to an rpm-only system and haven't found one that
provides this, yet, for my 4.4 system.
Is there any plan to add this to the repository in the near future (if
at all)? Does anyone know where I can get it, otherwise? I see there

loading installes package including all needed subpackages
Hallo,
I just installed all needed packages for my project on my PC. But I cannot load all at one time. I now want to load limma. How can I realize the following plan: I want to install for example limma inclusive all needed other sub packages (add-on). Can anyone tell me the corresponding command?
Thanks, Corinna

[PATCH pkg-libvirt/libguestfs] Split off ZFS support from libguestfs0.
Hilko,
This is an experimental patch showing how to split libguestfs into
subpackages, so the main libguestfs0 doesn't depend on everything.
Splitting packages only works for packages which are in the appliance
(ie. in appliance/packagelist or supermin.d/packages).
In this patch, only zfs-fuse [which previously caused trouble for

We also tried :
- - iptables avec nftables en backend
- - firewalld avec nftables en backend

We would want to try "iptables with netfilter" this but we have not find how to switch to.
Do you think server subpackage of NM is a track to follow?
Thanks

python updates
I wasn't paying much attention, but I remember a day or two ago, someone
was complaining about python updates. From the RH alerts...
<snip>
This update fixes the following bug:
* Previously, the dependencies between the Python subpackages were set
erroneously and caused problems with the inclusion of i686 multilib
packages in
the x86_64 channels. After this update, the dependencies have been
resolved and
the Python packages install as expected. (BZ#1033111)
All users of python are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,

problem compiling pigeonhole + my fix
hello,
yesterday I tried to package dovecot-2.0beta5 + pigeonhole from Mercurial repository.
I put pigeonhole as a subdir in the dovecot sourcetree.
Following http://hg.rename-it.nl/dovecot-2.0-pigeonhole/raw-file/tip/INSTALL
I called ./autogen.sh; ./configure --with-dovecot=..; make
In the buildprocess I saw this output ( from autogen.sh ):
Putting files in AC_CONFIG_AUX_DIR, `..'.

network disconnection after several hours
Hello,
Here is the context during the problem occurs :
We have a new machine running on centos 8.From this machine, we restore a postgresql dump on an other machine runnning on centos 7.After several hoursof running, restore fails due to a disconnection (no route to host). But, if we disable the firewall on centos 8, restore succeed.
Before having this new centos 8 machine, we had a centos 7

F8 desktop features
...plugins. I know
there is interest in getting ccp configured as the default backend,
but I don't know what the benefits of that is over gconf. I
understand that gconf is GNOME specific, but I was thinking that the
better approach was to move gconf and gtk-window-decorator to a new
compiz-gnome subpackage. What is the compiz upstream position? My
position is that we need to use the native configuration system of the
desktop environment (that is, gconf when running under GNOME) and
reinventing new config file formats is almost never the right approach
(no matter how fun it is).

Is it ok to use the name on a bundle and one if its packages?

without having to care if I distribute the methods in one package
called 'aroma' or bundle of packages called 'aroma'. Moreover,
'library(aroma)' will also do for the typical user too. To turn it
around, what I'm trying to do is to emulate the concept of
"subpackages".
Another advantage is that if you first start out with a package
'aroma' that people installs, then you can without having to tell the
users, change it to be a bundle. 'update.package()' will still work;
Same if you want to revert to a package. I haven't tested if it wor...

Yes. CentS 6 uses libvirt-0.10.2 + a ton of backported patches. The
splitting of libvirt into a bunch of smaller subpackages so that admins
could more easily tailor what was installed on their systems happened
[sometime after that, not motivated to look up the exact version right
now]. In order to maintain as much stability as possible, the patches
that made that split have not been backported to the CentOS6/RHEL6

Request for Intel build of flac on Mac OS X (with ogg)

build and then make the Universal Installer available. But you must
make sure that you have libogg installed before you do your build.
To accomplish this, either download libogg 1.1.3 and install it
yourself, or just grab my previous Mac Universal Installer, which has
a subpackage for libogg.
Thanks in advance for any help.

texlive is a pain in the ass to have all the things that are included
in contrib and other areas. The Fedora package breaks into 5932
different subpackages and the RHEL is a sub-build of those which are
felt can be maintained for the lifetime of a EL release. If you need
more than what EL provides, most people just take the 10->28 hours to
build a set of tetex packages from the Fedora ones.

The fact that /dev/centos/root (XFS filesystem) wasn't resized here
indicates that you don't have the correct XFS subpackage installed.
Virt-resize would have given you a warning about this, but in any case
you need to install the ‘libguestfs-xfs’ package on the host.

libvirt 1.2.1 / lxc : default virtual network not defined after installing/starting Libvirt
Hi There,
I am using Libvirt 1.2.1 on Fedora 20.
So, Libvirt is well installed and started but the weird thing is that the 'default' virtual network is not automatically defined and started, knowing that I can define/start it manually and everything goes fine.
previously I was using libvirt 1.0.4 and the 'default' virtual network was defined/started at Libvirt startup.
so,

RPM questions about trying to build php-ldap --with-ldap-sasl
Hello CentOS People,
I'm trying to build the php-5.0.4-5 subpackage 'php-ldap' from the
centosplus repo --with-ldap-sasl. Strangly the stock php-ldap package
is linked with libsasl2 et al but the ldap_sasl_bind PHP function
is not available which leads me to conclude that it was not built
--with-ldap-sasl.
To this end, can anyone help with the following qu...
