--keep-dirlinks --delete erroneously deletes symlinks to directories
...e-before and --delete-after it works as expected. (rsync version 3.0.3 protocol version, on Debian Lenny) I don't think that this behaviour is intended. Details/example: - Host 1 directory-structure: drwx------ ./1 -rwx------ ./1/file drwx------ ./1/dir -rwx------ ./1/dir/subfile - Host 2 directory-structure: drwx------ ./2 -rwx------ ./2/file lrwxrwxrwx ./2/dir -> ../foo drwx------ ./foo -rwx------ ./foo/subfile - the data on both hosts is the same, so rsync shouldn't do anything - mirroring Host 1 -> Host 2 correctly does nothing: $ rsy...

Notification of file modification in subdirectories not working
I have output of another test with exactly the same behaviour This time I have pcap files from Samba and client PC. CHange to the file subfile.txt was made on another PC Looks like Samba sees change to the file but does not send it as a notification [2016/01/26 10:09:15.590689, 10, pid=12027, effective(1001, 1006), real(1001, 0)] ../source3/smbd/notify_internal.c:615(notify_trigger) notify_trigger called action=0x3, filter=0x0, path=/...

error with rd /s in windows 2000 shell
Hi all, We are running a samba (3.0.14a-3 / sarge) server with windows 2000 Client. (recent remplacement of a NT server) The problem his that when I try to recursivly remove a folder on a samba share with "rd /s" on the windows shell, the command return an error and stop deletting subfile when the number of subfile exceed (exactly) 130. At the end of the command only 130 are deleted and not the full directory. That's very important for me because some of ours developers use this command in a lot of shell script. Should I increase some mysterious smb.conf paramater or something...

ACL and recursive permission
...em when I try to change permission on a share from a Windows XP/2000 environment. When I select a directory and goes on the "Security" tab and change the permissions (for exemple set write for user xyz), it changes the ACL for the directory but it doesn't change the subfolders and subfiles permissions. The same operation on a Windows 2003 share works perfectly. So what am I missing ? Djay

Large-scale ACL copying?
...er" option is supposed to fix this, but it seems to be ignored according to testparm -x - or am I doing something wrong?) I could try copying them over and then seting the ACLs either through the Security dialog or with setfacl, but given that they're not all predictable (any random subfile could have rather different ACLs to its parent dir), and also given the sheer number involved, it would take, um, a while :( This is Samba 2.2.7a on Debian unstable (can be reverted to stable if need be), and a fairly standard W2k server on domain-level security. Any ideas for an [easier] way...

SendFAX - multi-page TIFF
Hi, Does anyone had the problem of asterisk SendFax + spandsp sending only the first page of a multi-page TIFF file? Seams to be related to spandsp ECM config. Any thoughts about it? How to make "Add permission" for folder in system withntacl support?

I tried to do this way but it create a subfile or subfolder readoble and writeable at lease by creator. In case with NT user who has a right only for adding files can not go into the folder and see and read the content there even if he just added this content into this folder or share. Please point me to the right way, thanks. G.

gpupdate use wrong url
I use bind on the same maschine as samba (bind_dlz). there is no additional bind9 in my test network. the default gw (kvm host) do nat. and bind of this network does know nothink about zone "foo". I think that is a problem of the windows nslookup. I installed bind nslookup on the PC just for test and this can resolve "foo" and "foo." c:\s_tools (nslookup win)

R tools for large files
...variables times who knows how many observations making up 27MB altogether. The sort of thing that I am thinking of having R do is - count the number of lines in a file - form a data frame by selecting all cases whose line numbers are in a supplied vector (which could be used to extract random subfiles of particular sizes) Does anyone know of a package that might be useful for this? [ANNOUNCE] pymp3cut
Hi there, I'm pleased to announce the availability (CVS only for now) of pymp3cut. pymp3cut is a GPLed Python command line tool designed to automatically cut very big mp3 files according to a timeline, and postprocess each subfile with any tool of your choice in a single run. It's useful if you stream very long events (10 hours or so) like congresses using IceCast and want to cut the big archives by speaker afterwards. Then all you have to do is create a text file of this format : speakername1 hh1:mm1:ss1...

Notification of file modification in subdirectories not working
Hi Volker Thanks for reply. managed to capture Samba logs 4.2.7 in debug 10 Subsribed to events on path /watchfolder recursively. First notification is renaming a folder in a subfolder, path /watchfolder/test/renamed - that works OK. Second notification is on path /watchfolder/test/subfile.txt and editing that in Notepad on another Windows 7 machine via UNC path That does not show notification. Attached filtered pcap Wireshark file from machine subscribing to events Let me know if you need anything else. Daniel On 22 January 2016 at 07:19, Volker Lendecke [via Samba] < m...

Asterisk core dumping on SendFax with FFA
Hi All, I seem to have stumbled on a bit of a problem. When trying to send a fax with Fax For Asterisk on 1.6.2.x (have tried 1.6.2.5, 1.6.2.7 and the current svn version, with FFA 1.2 I get a core dump each time. Here is an extract form the console: [May 12 22:47:09] DEBUG[22584]: app_queue.c:1084 handle_statechange: Device 'SIP/vltb-sbc01' changed to state '1' (Not in use)

Need help configuering Dovecot to support folders that contain sub-folders and messages
...encountered it - life got busy. So my skills have become a bit rusty and I have not done anything about it. But now I would like to. I ported over my email and my wife's - so perhaps there is some legacy setting in those folders that prevents the bliss of folders and mail in the same subfile. But I created a new email account for my daughter and that has the same limitation. In Leopard mail, folders to hold folders look White, whereas folders to hole mail look blue. In Thunderbird Folders to hold Folders are in Italics whereas Folders to hold mail are normal font. I am also...
