Sub_scribe and a question
Dear all, I am trying to get an estimate of the intercept for a linear model. In this case, I know the slope of the model, can anyone tell me how to constrain the formula in lm() so that it only estimates the intercept not the slope? This morning I had 37 messages from the r-help list in my mailbox. I think its becoming excessive for an e-mail list. I wonder if whoever looks after this list could either move or gateway it to a usenet group? That would also eliminate the need for special purpose archiving and searching facilities since the site: http://groups.google.com would automatically provide that. That site also

Newsgroup - another try?
As nobody seems to answer my request, I simply post it again. Is there any reason why the r-help-mailinglist should not be converted to a newsgroup? These were the advantages of a newsgroup I mentioned earlier: -) you can easily search the archives -) the discussion is faster (I experience that the R-mailinglist has a lag of about 1 to 2 hours (not for everyone!!!).
