conference call stuttering / clocking issue (?) - ESXi virtual environment
Title says it all - for the time being I am stuck deploying Asterisk in ESXi . We are also looking at Proxmox for our next round of servers.. Everything works fine except conference calls - very stuttery , have tried a few different codecs. I assume this is a granular clocking issue , and wondering if anyone has anything I could try to fix or mitigate the problem in ESXi environment . We have freepbx (asterisk 11 chan_sip) and test environments asterisk 13.7/8 pjsip . Thank you again, Kevin Lo...

SV: re: Sound issues on SIP-SIP calls
...ho its actually being caused by the other phone. check your zapata.conf file and see if echotraining=yes. Echo can be caused by lots of things so this is just a starting point. For several months now we?ve been experiencing a really strange problem with sound which best can be explained as choppy/stuttery, and with a touch of echo on top. Basically, parts of a conversation might be choppy, but often combined with some echo as well. The sound problem can only be heard by us, not by the other party. But this is the strange part:

one way / irratic voice over iax and g729
...or the carrier leg) calls go thru fine, but when using g729, there is one way voice whereby the B party cannot hear the A party, however the A party can hear the B party fine. Sometimes there is no audio for the B party, other times the B party can hear the A party but it is very broken up and stuttery, with only parts of the words coming through. The calls also work fine when using g711 from the A party. Asterisk2 is running a couple of TDM04B's so there is a physical timing device on that side and Asterisk1 is running ztdummy on a 2.6 kernel - so there is timing on that side also (??)...

Odd behavior in World of Warcraft
...ll run, say 5 frames smooth then "stutter" 5 frames fine, "stutter" indefinitely. Since it is in DirectX mode the hardware cursor is on, but when it stutters, even the mouse cursor freezes for this fraction of a second. I can restart the X server and it runs ok the first time, stuttery the next. The output from wine (different PC so I cannot copy/paste) is the same both times, I do notice some GLSL errors like this: fixme:"Vertex shader was successfully compiled to run on hardware" fixme:"Vertex shader(s) linked, no fragment shader(s) defined" fixme:"Fr...

Voicemail prompts fuzzy and quiet
...re is no packet loss or any issues like that as all other calls sounds fine. The only issue is calls to voicemail from what I can tell. We have thousands of calls a day, so I am quite sure I would have heard if there were other issues. Any ideas? My first guess would be timing, but it isn't stuttery or anything, it is just kind of fuzzy and quiet and I can't imagine timing would affect that. Peder

IAX2 update - timestamp issue within iax pkts
For those that might be using Cisco 7940/7960 sip phones and placing calls across an iax2 link, we think the voice quality problem has been identified and corrected. The dev cvs should be updated as of about 3:30pm CDT today (April 14). History: Calls originating from a Cisco 79x0 sip phone and sent via iax2 link to some distant * machine resulted in very poor quality audio, and in some cases,

VOIP Challenges...
Greetings - I''m new to QoS, so please be gentle (and yes, I''ve RTFM, though I don''t understand every bit of it) Here''s the thing; I''ve tried several scripts--simple and complex--for classifying my Vonage traffic into a high-priority queue, but no matter what I do it doesn''t seem to work. Right now I''m using the HTB script

Simple directory question
...t server for about a year, and never really had the chance to test it out on the other side of our Internet link. We've had a lot of people trying us out, but very short connect times in the whole. I finally got a cable modem at home, tried having a listen, and found the stream to be very stuttery. So, first things first, I went and grabbed the latest icecast source, compiled and installed on my linux box. I then set about twiddling the config file, and finally got some sense. However, we've disappeared from yp.icecast.org as far as I can tell. Looking in the logfile, I see the fol...

[Bug 90453] New: Desktop periodically freezes when using Nouveau & getting "nouveau E[PDISP]" errors in dmesg
...I can still move the mouse, and I can still hear the sound of any media-player or YouTube still running. Sometimes, I can still go to another terminal with Ctrl-Alt-F2, sometimes not. One time when I could, I restarted X and it would just work again. (Additionally, the frame rate seems a bit 'stuttery' compared to the binary NVidia drivers, especially when moving windows around and such. That may or may not be a separate issue.) There are a bunch of nvidia errors in my dmesg output that I do not understand. I attached this output. I'd be happy to provide any extra info you need, but wo...
