[OT] Yoda Communications' VG-400 (4 Port FXO and 2 Port FXO/2 Port FXS)
With the lack of info on Yoda Communications in Taiwan and their hardware, I thought I'd post my experience. I got my hands on a few H.323 VG-400's and VG-100TA's. http://www.yoda.com.tw/model.php?type=VoIP_Solution&pname=VG400 2 of the VG-400's were 2FXO/2FXS models. A couple were deployed to SE Asia, where we planned to offer our services. Originally, I ran a GnuGK server

Grandstream BudgeTone - opinions??
Hi, I am thinking about getting some of these phones to use with my Asterisk system.. So I would be interested to hear from the people who have tired and tested these phones.. What is the voice quality like using alaw/ulaw or G.729?? Are there any problems getting them to play nicely with Asterisk?? How sturdy is the construction (reciever, handset, buttons, cable connections, etc..) ?? How

Centos and colocation....
Well, I finally did it..and used centos. I started out in 1997 with my little website with not much on it. It was a shared host account. Eventually I added some more sites and got to grow out and went to this new fangled thing called VPS. Lots of problems plagued me throughout that experience, some on ensim control panel, some on others. When chost.net (think that was their name) blew up (1999

BackgrounDRb New release.
Howdy Folks- I''m happy to announce a new release of BackgrounDRb! I have added quite a few new features and included some nice patches from folks on the list. $ script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org//var/svn/backgroundrb All of the code now stays within the plugin and the start and stop scripts are now just stubs. This makes it easier to tweak or figure out how it works.

New laptop recomendation
...39;d recommend the LT kernel. I also read in the RHEL 7.3 release notes that I2C support for Gen6 mobile CPUs was introduced. Thus as the time passes, say 6 months from now, one should be able to drop the LT/ML kernel in favor of the stock RHEL/CentOS kernel. On a side note, the Latitude design/sturdiness impressions were much better than that of a Lenovo X1 Carbon gen4. Regards, Milos. Different mdbox_rotate_size for primary and alternate storage
Hello. In order to speed up backups of very very old messages I would like to set two different limits for mdbox_rotate_size. Like, 50M for primary storage and 100M or larger for alternate storage. There is no mention in docs or such a possibility, so I assume it is not possible. Is that correct? While I am at it, is it possible to configure primary storage as maildir (sturdy indexes) and

SVN vs "Regular" Asterisk
Hi gang, Can someone shed some light on the pros and cons of working with the SVN branches of Asterisk vs working in the 1.4 or 1.6 branches? What branch does the SVN release roughly equate to? TIA Danny Nicholas -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

multiline, cordless, expandable phone system and asterisk message waiting
Basically, pretty much all the 2 line cordless systems I've seen come with a built in digital answering system that I'll never use, the main problem with this is that these units don't support VMWI (visual message waiting indicator) with telco supplied voicemail. This is a problem because I'll be setup an Asterisk system in the next month or so to handle my 2 analog and 1

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series. The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here. For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheets_list.html The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the chan_sccp to

RAID-Z1 pool became faulted when a disk was removed.
So I have attached to my system two 7-disk SCSI arrays, each of 18.2 GB disks. Each of them is a RAID-Z1 zpool. I had a disk I thought was a dud, so I pulled the fifth disk in my array and put the dud in. Sure enough, Solaris started spitting errors like there was no tomorrow in dmesg, and wouldn''t use the disk. Ah well. Remove it, put the original back in - hey, Solaris still thinks

ATA shootout: PAP2T versus Grandstream Handytone 286
I'm considering a situation where I buy about twenty ATA devices. I've played with the Linksys / Cisco PAP2T, and got that working fine with some inbound and outbound faxing. The web GUI was okay. I'm seeing prices around $45 to $50 for this thing. It comes with two FXS ports, but I only need one FXS. I've seen the Grandstream Handytone 286 online. It looks promising as an

New laptop recomendation
Hi, I'm recently retired from my university job. I am looking for a laptop to run CentOS 6/7. My university was a traditional Dell site so I've used Latitude laptops for years, currently E6500/E6510. Anybody got any experience of running CentOS on the newer Dell Latitudes E5000 or E7000. These are not certified according to Redhats' Hardware Guide. Alternatively Precision

Polycom 500, asterisk user opinions?
Hi all, I'm researching IP phones for a new office setup. We will need 30 phones. I have read the wiki and the polycom site for the phones, but I still had some questions about real world experience with these phones. -According to the documentation, the 500 series ( and 600, according to a polycom rep ) have built in hubs. Has anybody noticed performance issues in this setup, when
