ferret using UTF-8
Hey all, I went through the docs in Ferret''s page, plus a quick search through the email list (thread titles), and I couldn''t find any info on how to have Ferret storing it''s data using UTF-8. In the scenario I would use it, nothing''s being stored outside (like external databases). So it''s just how Ferret would do it that I''m interesting in

v2.0.rc2 released
...rc1 - director+LMTP proxy wasn't working correctly - v1.x config parser failed with some settings if pigeonhole wasn't installed. - virtual: If non-matching messages weren't expunged within same session, they never got expunged. Now that the stupidest mistakes are fixed, perhaps this release will do better :)

link_to file
Hi, This is probably the stupidest question that I''m ever going to ask, but how do I create a link to a file? To be more clear, I simply want to create a link to a file that I am storing in the /public directory, say file.pdf. So, I upload the file to /public/ and then I would like to be able to do something like, link_t...

[LLVMdev] Building LLVM with cmake on FreeBSD
...to learn CMake. If such is deemed needed for GNU Make, why is it ok to treat anyone using a BSD Make system as a poor cousin? Not that it's going to really affect us (we'll be using our own tree of Makefiles) but it rankles. Those old SYSV Makefiles are only there because they're the stupidest. I could offer you BSD Makefile templates, if someone in llvm would learn enough CMake to figure out how to integrate them into CMake. Cmake is your tool, not mine, remember. However, as I said in the first paragraph, maybe it's better for you to just ignore things, because llvm builds for mo...

Running MS's "Signtool" app from Wine
...ing the signing certificate .PFX file.... I've spent a lot of time searching for a solution but have yet to find anything....I'm getting quite frustrated now. Has anyone tried this before, or is it a case of "Beyond here there be Dragons!!"?? ;-(( Thanks. ALERT: Tiresome security hole in "xosview", RedHat5.1?
...sName[256]; strncpy(className, name, 255); // Avoid evil people out there... Appears later. I found this amusing. Anyway I hope it''s apparent this is exploitable. xosview doesn''t appear to drop privs. Also, that is _by no means the only vulnerable section of code_, just the stupidest bit. Temp. (and probably permanent) solution: "chmod u-s `which xosview`. Anyway well done RedHat for "blunder of the week". Still fuming, Chris PS. Whilst you''re at it RedHat, fix the X libraries (new security holes just found) as well as dhcpd (remote root, well docume...

FW: Adding OpenBSD sudo to the FreeBSD base system?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 I really do not agree with adding it to the base system. Just because you guys use sudo does not mean other people do. In fact many people do not have a use for sudo at all. Not every one gives out root accounts. You are only adding another utility In that can possibly be used to escalate privileges. Every time I secure a system I spend some time

rant on browser makers (was something about updating TD''s)

Actually, I hate Mozilla''s box model (I know it''s the w3c recommended one, but it''s flawed. Width and height should include padding and borders.

eth0 & eth1 changing every boot
This is probably a stupid question, but I''m stumped. Practically every time my firewall boots (not often, but still) eth0 and eth1 exchange places (internet and intranet). How do I lock them down? SuSE 9.2, Shorewall 2.2.3. Thanks! Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action. Only the grumpy will survive. -- Please note - Due to the intense volume of spam, we have installed site-wide
