horizontal space/indent and HTML/PDF
...t is the best method to introduce horizontal space in text in a Pandoc document? Preferably something that would work for both HTML and PDF output? I need this for some poetry that has indented lines, ala the 2nd and 3rd lines: hickory dickory dock the most ran up the clock the clock struck one the mouse ran down c -- Chris Lott <chris at chrislott.org>

A Suggestion for Strikethrough Syntax
...;}gsx; $text =~ s{ (\*|_) (?=\S) (.+?) (?<=\S) \1 } {<em>$2</em>}gsx; # These lines added by Bill Eccles, 2008-07-04 $text =~ s{ (\s) (-) (?=\S) (.+?) (?<=\S) (-) } {$1<strike>$3</strike>}gsx; return $text; } It converts -text to be struck through- to <strike>text to be struck through</strike>. Simple, and it works for me. (I detail it at <http://www.bill.eccles.net/bills_words/2008/07/a-test-entry-with-markdownstri.html >.) Thoughts? /Bill -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was s...

RE: Shorewall 1.46b; new configs--command not found? << struck wi th stupidity
I had a 2-day lapse in brain function apparently. Discovered that even though UltraEdit-32 says its editing/saving in UNIX mode, it is not 100% true. Ran my new configs through dos2unix and bam...no more error message. Please excuse my previous post (I always seem to do that...) and sorry about the junk. Levi Masterson

R "FinMetrics" Package Available?
Hello List, I've done some cursory searching but (so far) have struck out. Does anyone know if the R version of the S+ FinMetrics package is available? Best, Bill Vedder

Call getting stucked !!
I am using asterisk. I also have an access to VOIPSwitch ver 2 where I can see live calls. Many times I have seen that my calls are getting strucked and then it gets disconneected after 59 mins ( as settings are done accordingly in VOIPSwitch) What could be the reason ? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Partitioning with LVM
I've been reading up on recommended partitioning scheme and looking at Centos 5 beta's default scheme, it struck me that with LVM, it doesn't matter any more as long as we leave aside enough room for /boot, does it? Or am I still missing something here? Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/attachments/20070402/...

Hi John, what you said is true but historically in vpopmail environments uid and gid are usually hardcoded at 89 Anyone can check their uid and gid with "id vpopmail" command from shell and update as necessary. -- Alessio Cecchi Postmaster @ http://www.qboxma...

Python hashlib and ripemd160
Hi - I think the patent monster has struck again. rmd = hashlib.new('ripemd160',binascii.unhexlify(someString)).hexdigest() That fails - ValueError: unsupported hash type From some googling, it appears that the supported hash types are from OpenSSL and that means the OpenSSL in CentOS doesn't support ripemd160. Spedd: R vs S-plus
Hi Folks, Sorry to raise what has probably been discussed before, but I an repeatedly struck by the comparative slowness of S-plus for Windows compared with R for Linux when doing much the same thing. I don't have a direct comparison, because they're not running on the same machine; but machine W has a faster CPU and more RAM than machine L, yet S-plus on W seems to take longer by...

TAPI and Asterisk
...s are doing. Today I was asked by an existing client if I knew a way to synch their mobile device contacts with the system in some way so that they would have quick access to speed dial or otherwise call up a personal directory on their (Polycom) phones that could be synched in this manner. It struck me that the Polycom directory interface is a bit kludgy for such things, having no search capability and no sorting capability once loaded that I am aware of. Given the meeting last week it seems that a more elegant solution would be to link Outlook itself with Asterisk, so "right clickin...

Securing serial ports - fax modems
I have already deployed a fax server and am about to deploy a backup system for this host at our off-site facility. It struck me that I have given no thought to securing the serial port to unauthorized access. The modem is a Multi-Tech MT5634ZBA which supports data as well as fax. So this poses the same type of risk, if not to the same degree, as an ssh or telnet port but without the availability of a firewall to thrott...

Winamp plugin bug
Okay I just found out about Vorbis today. I like it! However the Winamp plugin bug struck me the first time I used it. I used the encoder to compress 2 wavs. Each time I play these ogg files I either get a Winamp crash or a beep at the end of playing the file. I checked the archives and saw the old posts for this same bug. Has it been fixed in a newer version? I take it since the Wina...

ls() with different defaults: Solution;
Dear useRs, Some time ago I queried the list as to an efficient way of building a function which acts as ls() but with a different default for all.names: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e6/help/09/03/7588.html I have struck upon a solution which so far has performed admirably. In particular, it uses ls() and not its explicit source code, so only has a dependency on its name and the name of its all.names argument. Here is my solution: lsall <- function(...) { thecall <- as.call(c(as.name('ls'),...

generating a bar chart with two axis for co-linear variable
...at I am facing in generating combo chart(bar chart and plot). I am a novice and have some difficulty in getting this logic correct. I am give a dataset (I am attaching a sample dataset). I am using a barplot() and passing values for percentage frequency and the corresponding variables. I am struck here, what my function does is only calculate the frequency for the listed variables and not the frequency percentage. Is there a method or a script with which I can pass the frequency percent and the related values as category columns for x axis? I will attach the graphs that I have generated s...

[LLVMdev] proposal to add MVT::vAny type
...ting-point vector elements. It didn't bother me when there were only a few intrinsics like this, but now there are more, and I realized this weekend that I still need to add more for the load/store lane operations. I had been thinking about trying to bitcast my way out of this, but it struck me that it would make a lot more sense to have a new MVT::vAny type that TableGen would match to any vector type. That would more accurately reflect the type constraints on these intrinsics. It seems like since these "*Any" types are confined to TableGen, it should be pretty easy...

maximum matrix size
...(the latter more likely).?? Is it still .Machine$integer.max for everything??? Will that change??? Found where? I am going to need to go through the survival package and put specific checks in front some or all of my .Call() statements, in order to give a sensible message whenever a bounday is struck.? A well meaning person just posted a suggested "bug fix" to the github source of one routine where my .C call allocates a scratch vector, suggesting? "resid = double( as.double(n) *nvar)" to prevent a "NA produced by integer overflow" message,? in the code below.??...
