Windows Shell Command under Vista
...uot; ---- I switched to Vista this year. For reasons I don't understand, I have to give the full path now, even if rgui is on the path. However, the solution below does not really work, getwd() is always in \windows\system32. I tried several cmd.exe "..." variations, without success (strangled by "\""\"?) And a nasty feature of Vista is the long delay of 19 seconds until a command box comes up on my computer. To avoid RTFMs: I know how to do this with setwd(). OT: long - Replacing CD's? was RE: New type of copy-prot ected audio CDs are coming...
...The problem they face is most people that currently use a rack system featuring digital interconnects will NEVER revert to an analog only system. I know that I won't! Think back to VHS, BetaMax, SVHS and LaserDisc. VHS has incredible market share because its licensing is open. Betamax was strangled by Sony. SVHS and LaserDisc failed to reach critical mass because they offered only incremental improvements and were not backward compatible. Attempts to supplant CD's with a product thas is only incrementally better will suffer the same fate as the above products - only a small number...

Hitman: Blood Money won't start (Fixes for some errors here)
...sted in both 9.6 and 9.4 driver versions. I doubt it is them, as 3d works fine. Past fixed problems: - All wine programs would flicker and never start. - Fixed by turning off Compiz effects. This wasn't actually an error. Apparently, the flicker is actually a useful sign that your CPU is being strangled with razor wire, probably caused by me running a 3d program on a 3d desktop using a CPU that is only meant for one or the other. - Hitman Blood Money got a "has encountered serious errors and has to close" error every time it started. - This was fixed by removing the DVD from the drive,...

[LLVMdev] Pluggable Register Coalescers
...k, perhaps invoking the existing coalescer, but that would cause coalescing the user might not want. It could do nothing and count on the register allocator to run it at some point, but not all register allocators will necessarily run a coalescing pass. I agree with Evan that we don't want to strangle short-term gain, but these are the kinds of questions we should keep in mind as we design interfaces. Interfaces can always change later, of course, but it's good to get them as right as possible initially. -Dave

[OT] Where to buy S/MIME ??

Where do regular users who just want an inexpensive certificate usable for S/MIME from a CSR generated the traditional way go to buy a cert? -=- Off Topic 2 I'm going to strangle whoever it is at Google that thinks it is a good idea to put so many video results at the top of search results for this kind of thing. I'm really getting sick of how highly ranked videos now are in search engines.

Ebay Unwired Buyer, Using Asterisk?
Just got a call from Ebay's unwired buyer and "The Voice" is Allison Smith. Adoption is wide but who is willing to give away their competitive edge (although ebay doesn't really have any real competition). Thanks, Steve

Download and upload independency
Hello everyone: As it is known, when you limit uplink bandwidth it usually gets downlink bandwidth to a lower value. I just want to know what is the optimal configuration for eth1 and imq0 according to some variables of tc(HTB), txqueuelen, mtu, etc. to make these packet flows less independent on an ethernet based network. Thank you in advance. -Diego

3ware disk failure -> hang
I've got an i386 server running centos 4.2 with 3 3ware controllers in it -- an 8006-2 for the system disks and 2 7500-8s. On the 7500s, I'm running an all software RAID50. This morning I came in to find the system hung. Turns out a disk went overnight on one of the 7500s, and rather than a graceful failover I got this: Jan 6 01:03:58 $SERVER kernel: 3w-xxxx: scsi2: Command

Ouch, part reset, quickly restoring reality (0) Power alarm on module 1, resetting! I have looked though a lot of email on this issue, and no one seems to have the answer. How many people are seeing this on a TDM400 card? Does anyone have a "REAL" answer to it. Yes, I do have the power connected to it! Regards Garry Taylor

SIP Blacklisting
Hi, Given the recent increase in SIP brute force attacks, I've had a little idea. The standard scripts that block after X attempts work well to prevent you actually being compromised, but once you've been 'found' then the attempts seem to keep coming for quite some time. Older versions of sipvicious don't appear to stop once you start sending un-reachables (or straight

Replication problem I have. And how I think I can get around problem.
I have two servers in two different locations. Neither what you would call 100 percent safe from being turned off. Most staff use web based email. This backs onto imap server. I do know I will have to deal with contact lists and other items. in that client. Worst part is the link between them may get broken so both servers may be receiving email and back active at the same time. I can see 1

Question on application/database design for a application port to rails
Hi all I am hoping that the experience and knowledge of this ''list'' will be able to help me out with some design decisions I have to make while porting a desktop app to rails. Here is the scoop: I am in the design process of porting a fairly large client/server app to rails. Average data set is about 200 MB per database/server. Altogether there are about 100 tables and about

Why Are You Using FreeBSD?
Hi Everyone, This is off-topic, so please feel free to disregard it, but I'm sending it to this list in the hope that it will reach a largish number of users. I am currently looking at updating some of our advocacy material (which advertises exciting new features like SMP support), and before I do I'd like to get a better feel for why the rest of you are using FreeBSD. If you had to
