Dovecot stones
...ady, but wouldn't it be better if it was GUARANTEED that your email server was ALWAYS working with zero downtime or other problems? After some thinking, planning and consulting with my spiritual guides I realized I really should just go ahead and do it: From now on you can buy blessed Dovecot stones (http://www.dovecot.org/tmp/stone1.jpg), which are guaranteed to keep your email server running. I don't think there's really any further reason for me to provide commercial support. Probably the whole Dovecot mailing list will be pretty much useless after this as well, so I might as wel...

Winbind - wbinfo -u works, getent passwd only gives local users
I only have limited Samba experience, and expect this is a silly mistake, but have been unable to find a solution I have installed Samba and Winbind on my desktop Linux (Debian) machine (SPARKSTONELX), aiming to unify logins with other windows machines accessing the PDC, again samba/Debian, with tdbsam password backend. All is well, joining the domain, and getting account details using wbinfo -u, but getent passwd only gives the local account details. The log file on the PDC (FILESTONE) repo...

Re: Rosetta Stone
Here is my experience with Rosetta Stone: I am SO unhappy with Rosetta Stone. I purchased a RS language program from a vendor who was using a fake licensing certificate and stolen credit cards to buy thousands of RS products and resell them. The guy is now in jail and was ordered to pay restitution to Rosetta Stone. I only found this out...

Rosetta Stone crashing
Hi all, Just trying to get Rosetta Stone V.3 working in Ubuntu Feisty; it installs fine, recognizes my language cd? and the lessons start. There are two problems, however. 1) The augio hiccups at the beggining every time. 2) this is the big one; occasionally (and seems to be randomly) everything freezes when audio is about to be played....

Regression in running Rosetta Stone v3 with version 1.1.25
I've been using Rosetta Stone version 3.0.35 with wine 1.1.24 successfully for about a month and it has run flawlessly. Unfortunately after updating to wine 1.1.25 a few days ago it crashes frequently (every 20 minutes or so), in a number of different ways. 1: It just closes unexpectedly without any error messages. 2: It says...

Rosetta Stone suddenly stopped working
Hello, I installed Rosetta Stone 3 yesterday, and it worked perfectly. I ran it several times. When I tried to run it again today, it just crashed at the outset with the following error messages: Code: ALSA lib pcm.c:2171:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so ALSA lib pcm....

Rosetta Stone question
I accidentally sent this to winehq.com, so I'm re-sending it just in case... Braun Brelin Hello all, I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 and mounting a Windows XP partition under /mnt/win. I'm also running Wine 1.2. When I try running Rosetta Stone under wine, I simply get the following error from RS: "Fatal Application Error 2111" Error #2302 I did some research using AppDB and Rosetta Stone. ?I followed some of the instructions in postings, but I've had no luck. I used winetricks to install flash, ie6, oleaut32 and other packa...

Rosetta Stone V 3.3.5 Microphone Detection
Hi, so I'm rather new to Linux. With a little bit of fiddling I was able to install Rosetta Stone (version 3.3.5). I'm running the latest versions of Wine and Ubuntu. Everything in Rosetta Stone is working great, however, it can not detect my microphone (which is not a USB headset, it is built in). I can't think of what could be wrong, as the microphone itself works fine in Sound Recor...

Rosetta Stone again
Many people have discussed the problems with Rosetta Stone, in particular the failure to detect the cdrom with the "Language Pack". I am having the same problem, but none of the described solutions work for me. I think that my dosdevices are configured correctly: niemand at dell dosdevices $ ls -l total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 niemand users 10 2007-09-0...

Re: Rosetta Stone Microphone Detection
Honestly, you guys are speaking jibberish. I have no idea what all that coding and stuff is, but I do know how I solved my problem without all the extra programs. I found the answer. Rosetta Stone has a problem detecting the mics if the speaker input is not in some way connected to the mic. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I don't care and neither should you. Follow these steps each time you want to use it and you should be fine. *I'm on Vista, but this should work for eve...

Rosetta Stone - Cannot find language pack
Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Wine 1.1.29 Rosetta Stone 3.3.5 - 20335 Rosetta Stone installed perfectly. When I attempt to add a language pack (Spanish, Spain) it does not detect it and RS repeatedly asks for me to insert the CD. I have an ISO mounted and the language pack CD. All are mirrored as drives in Wine's CFG. I have spent hours combin...

MinGW support
Hi there As announced (a lot) earlier [1], we've been working on getting rsync to run on Windows (using MinGW). The first results can be found here as 3 different branches: https://github.com/stepping-stone/rsync https://github.com/stepping-stone/rsync/commits/automake https://github.com/stepping-stone/rsync/commits/gnulib https://github.com/stepping-stone/rsync/commits/win32 where win32 -> gnulib -> automake -> master The "automake" branch is quiet ready and could be pul...
