[OT] (slightly) - OpenOffice Calc and text files
Hello all, I had a very strange looking problem that turned out to be due to unexpected (by me at least) format changes to one of my data files. We have a small lab study in which each run is represented by a row in a tab-delimited file; each row identifies a repetition of the experiment and associates it with some subjective measurements and times from our notes that get used to index another

Spicy stuff on web development
Hi all, The link contains a stingy article on AJAX and other somewhat browser dependant stuff. http://techrepublic.com.com/5254-6257-0.html?forumID=99&threadID=184332&messageID=1963135&id=2926438 Being a webdev myself and also a diehard perfectionist, I could relate to some of it. Let me state that the article does NOT represent my opinion, nor is it to fire up a discussion!! It

Office XP - possible to install?
Hi all. I've *never* been able to install Office XP. I've had it running in CrossOver ( demo ), but my work is too stingy to pay for that, and yet I still want to install Office. At the moment my VirtualBox installation is becoming flaky. I've updated a fresh Ubuntu-8.04 installation to wine-1.0-rc1. I've then followed the instructions for installing on Gentoo ( install IE6 via

Warning - Naive Question Alert
In my research area, researchers are very stingy about sharing data. In fact, they are frequently downright secretive about these morsels. Typically, we get fed a diet of summary statistics and the assurance that the data are *normal* without any necessary documentation that they really are. With that as background and assuming that the data really are normal, is there any way in R (or any

OP - Backblaze Personal. May be like $1/extra per month than your budget. Unlimited IO and backup storage assuming you only need redundancy. https://www.backblaze.com/cloud-backup.html Still going to take a while on initial upload. (Sounds almost AWS Snowball like is what you need but too costly). Regards, R. S. Tyler Schroder Redcoded.com Cyber Intellegence > On Feb 15, 2019, at 10:37

Variable substitution - How can I do Dial(${DIALSTRING}) where ${DIALSTRING} is 'SIP/201, 15, tT'?
I've been banging my head against a brick wall for the last hour and I'm sure this is one of those easy to solve things - just that I can't see the wood for the trees. I'm trying to do: ----------- [some-context] Exten => s,1,Macro(dodial,'SIP/201,15,tT',123456,MOHClass) [macro-dodial] Exten => s,1,SetCallerID(${ARG2}) Exten => s,2,SetMusicOnHold(${ARG3}) Exten

CentOS, PHP & OwnCloud/Nextcloud: the version dilemma

Please Recommend Affordable and Reliable Cloud Storage for 50 TB of Data
Hi, Could you recommend affordable and reliable cloud storage for 50 TB of data? Here are some important factors to consider: 1. Personal/non-commercial use. 2. Must be affordable, since I am unemployed most of the time and have super low levels of income for the past 12 years since I graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2007. 3. Cloud storage provider must not be a

Codifying our Brace rules-
Personally, I favor "always use braces" because it helps readability for me. The compiler may be good at flagging misleading indentation, but my visual processing system is terrible at it, especially since we use a measly two spaces for indentation. And we grant indentation exceptions for--among other things--case labels in switches. When some nested statements have braces and others

Best Firewall Suggestions?
Hi, My customer has a outdated firewall that is also presenting a NAT nightmare for getting the Asterisk server reachable from the internet. What firewalls work good with VOIP? I really want to steer away from any ALG supported firewall. I just want a good firewall that works well with Asterisk. Thanks, David Wathen -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

nomianl response model
Is there a way to estimate a nominal response model? To be more specific let's say I want to calibrate: \pi_{v}(\theta_j)=\frac{e^{\xi_{v}+\lambda_{v}\theta_j}}{\sum_{h=1}^m e^{\xi_{h}+\lambda_{h}\theta_j}} Where $\theta_j$ is a the dependent variable and I need to estimate $\xi_{h}$ and $\lambda_{h}$ for $h \in {1...,m}$. civil emergency comms: Asterisk + HAM
The disaster in the Gulf coast and the less than optimal initial response suggests to me that citizens must shoulder more responsibility for emergency management. Communications loss must have played a large role in the failures that occurred. I can't help but wonder if there are fewer ham radio operators today and that if there were more, maybe they could make a difference in future
