For those who can't do the patch/compile thing, I've got a statically
linked version of toc3cue (should work on most any linux disto) and a
patched version of abcde on my website:
toc3cue:

abcde:

You might also need to look at my abcde.conf to see how I've got things
setup:

...very much like the way things are headed, with a single flac file (and
embedded cue sheet) able to look like a CD to audio players, but along
these lines it would be nice if all data necessary to create an accurate
duplicate of the original CD could be stored in the flac file as well.

Cuesheets and metaflac
..., or is there some other
work-around I'm not aware of?
Any pointers to how best to deal with "problem" CDs containing pregap
would also be welcome. I'm sure I'm not the first to face these issues,
but I can't seem to find much useful info online...
Thanks!

Hi,
Bit late to join in the discussion but I've just read through the CD
archiving discussion and was particular interested in Dax's method,
described here (also included below):
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac/2006-September/000611.html
So far I've just been flac-ing my CDs to individual one-flac-per-track
files, however it appears I've been missing some of the other bits

I see that this was the right place to fire off this question. Thanks
for your feedback. It has given me a base to start some trials. I used
to use EAC on Windows, but I tend to only use open source software as
much as possible and I don't use Windows any more. I gave a brief look
at abcde, but it is clear I need to look at this some more. It looks
like it has the potential to do everything I

I was dealing with the second issue by modifying toc2cue (*NOT* a
particularly desirable solution, IMHO). Regardless, my just barely
working setup to rip entire CDs to flac breaks with the latest abcde
from subversion, and I haven't yet had time to get it running again. :(

to account for the write offset of my Plextor CD/DVD burner, so the
audio data comes out shifted by 30 samples (the write offset of my
burner). Not the end of the world, and I can "pre-shift" the audio data
to fix it.

...ing to ogg and flac files in the first place! EAC does
rip cue files with index information that do *NOT* need to be hacked for
disks with non-zero start position for track 1, so it can at least be
used as a baseline for getting all the required linux pieces to work
together happily.

FLAC: specifying all files with extension .WAV
Hi,
I want to use the "flac" encoder (in commandline mode) and I specify this
command to encode all .WAV files in the current directory:

flac 1.1.4, Copyright (C) 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007 Josh
