great!! thanks very much, mean(unlist(lapply(listdata, function(z) z$c))) works well. and what about getting the average table $a (displaying the average elements across all 1000 matrix)? could you please help me? I am struggling with this... thanks in advance Roberto mean(unlist(lapply(x, function(z) z$d))) should do the trick On Sun, 12 Feb 2006 20:06:12 +0000, statistical.model at

Help - lm, glm, aov results inconsistent with other stati stical package
1. You have levels(A) as "2" and "4", yet you showed equations for A=0 and A=1? 2. y = A + X + A*X means you're allowing the different groups of A to have different slopes. Probably not what you intended. 3. It's probably best to provide a small sample of the data (and R code) so we know how you got what you got. Andy From: Ben Ridenhour > > Hello, >

Listen to ARI events
Ok that worked. Since I have not declared a statis app called “test”, does that mean any non-existent app name on the URL will subscribe to all system events? R benchmarking program
Hi All, I've just rebuild the latest R with the Goto BLAS on our new Intel quad core machines. I did a few basic matrix calculations, and I was very impressed by the performance I saw. I wonder if anyone has a more rigorous benchmarking program for R. I downloaded a old R test/benchmarking program (see below), and this didn't work with the current R, and so I wondered if anyone could

fractional factorial design in R
Hi, i need to create a fractional factorial design sufficient to estimate the main effects. The factors may have any number of levels, let's say any number from 2 to 6. I've tried to use the library conf.design , but i cannot figure out how to write the code. For example, what is the code for a design with 5 factors (2x3x3x5x2) and only main effects not confounded? thanks in advance!

Dumping pool configuration for D/R purposes
In the ZFS admin guide under the topic of Repairing Pool Wide Damage it talks about in the event that it''s not possible to open the pool you have to scrap it, re-create it and then restore from backup. To do this it mentions keeping a file that describes the layout of the datasets and locally set properties and the details from a zpool statis. Is there no command, or possibility of one to

Shapley Values
Hi, I am trying to compute the Shapley Values between a set of p independent variables (x1, ..., xp) and the dependent variable y to study the relationships. I believe that the package "kappalab" could be an appropriate choice. Is anybody able to give me some hints about the code I should write? Any better package? thanks in advance! Hi everybody, let us assume i have the following matrixX and vectorY matrixX <- runif(100) dim(matrixX) <- c(10,10) vectorY <- as.matrix(as.character(seq(1,10))) if I define: subsample<-c("2") i can extract the rows from matriX based on the elements in vectorY which are listed in subsample matrixX[vectorY==subsample] if I define subsample with more than 1 element, such

Book on R's Programming Language
Can someone please recommend to me a book on the programming language that R is based on? I'm looking for a foundational book that teaches the logic of the S language. It seems that knowing the underpinnings of the language can only make using R a bit easier. Any leads are greatly appreciated . . . Matt. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Default sysctl.conf with augeas.
I have a tricky problem. I''m going to use Augeas, like here http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/1/wiki/Puppet_Augeas#/etc/sysctl.conf to maintain sysctl.conf. However, since iptables is already disabled, when I add more lines to sysctl.conf with augeas and run sysctl -p, the following lines (which are already there) cause a failure. # Disable netfilter on bridges.

How to combine to PCAs
Dear all: Subjects were measured two times (t1 and t2) on different variables (v1 ... vn). Between t1 and t2 there was an experimental manipulation. I computed two PCAs for time-points t1 and t2. Is it possible to combine both PCAs in order to get only one set of eigenvectors? Due to the experimental manipulation measurement values on time points t1 and t2 changed for each subject. Many
