A SWIG exception is getting thrown when trying to show a frame with a StatusBar created using StatusBar.new. This is demonstrated by the StatusBar example within the bigdemo, or the code below.
NB - it can be worked around by using the Wx::Frame#create_status_bar function.

Statusbar usage
Hi!
While playing around with a little example, I''ve realized, that I don''t
exactly know, how to work with the statusbar. When just calling
set_status_text (setStatusText in C++), then repeating messages don''t
display again. I guess there should be a magic rule about statusbar''s
text hierarchy, but can sy give me some hints about it?
Maybe some wxruby hints will also be useful.

Seg Fault caused by StatusBar. Am I doing something wrong?
...So I just started commenting everything out that wasn''t completely
necessary until it stopped. Here is the line which is responsible:
class MyFrame < Wx::Frame
def initialize(*args)
super(*args)
### cut a bunch of commented out code that appears fine ###
@statbar = StatusBar.new(self, -1)
### cut a bunch more code ###
end
end
If I comment out the statbar line the app exits fine, if I leave it in I
get the seg fault. Anyone have an idea why? Am I initializing it
incorrectly or something?

Useful statusbar in RGui
...appropriate for this List...
Currently, when I'm in console of Rgui, the status bar says a simple message
"R majer ver. minor ver. - A Language and Environment" which I know.
When I'm in plot area, it says "R Graphics" which I know, again.
I think it is very useful if statusbars says current directory,
because in my daily use I open several Rgui windows in different
directory (that is, different project), and it is diffecult to find
the window which I want.
Someone may hope something else.
So, my proposal is to allow users to change the message in status bar.

Wx::StatusBar set_status_widths returns argument error
Hi,
I added the following line in samples/wxStatusBar.rbw
set_status_widths(1, 100) # Doc: set_status_widths(Integer n, Integer
widths)
Got error:
wxStatusBar.rbw:17:in `set_status_widths'': wrong # of arguments(2 for
1) (ArgumentError)
wxRuby version: wxruby-1.9.6-x86-mingw32.

A program cant find their DLLs and it really exists

wxRuby and XRC via wxGlade
Hello,
I need to finish a small GUI program till friday and I am somewhat
stuck. First of all, wxRuby seems to ignore the size request of the
frame as defined via XRC (or I''m completly doing the wrong thing!)
Second, it complains about the statusbar and doesn''t display it. What am
I doing wrong?

HTML search & Firefox
...use R 2.2.0 and just updated to Firefox 1.5 (note that I already got
the same result with Firefox 1.x.x) under Win XP sp2 US (full details of
my config hereunder). When I try to use the HTML help search page, I can
make a search: the message 'Applet SearchEngine started' appears in the
statusbar and I got a result page, but that result page points to
incorrect links like:
'file:///library/stats/html/ave.html'
Obviously, that link should have been something like:
'file:///c:/Program%20Files/R/R-2.2.0/library/stats/html/ave.html'

No icons in my app
How programs looks executed on WINE (Ubuntu 8.10):

Icons are loaded from resources with LoadImage(GetModuleHandle(0), 1, IMAGE_ICON, 0,0,0)).

Uploading module in rails
...I face from our own
application. I asked our programmers why (according to our programmer):
"they are not using rails for the files upload. That''s something I''ve
discussed with alexl / kevin - Maybe we should do the upload module
using perl or php, so we can get a visual statusbar with connection
information and upload complete %."
