[Half OT?] Waiting for completion of Startupscript before logon

No, of course Samba runs...
I mean, Windows boots and starts a Startup-Script (or will shutdown and call
a Shutdown-Script).
These Scripts will be executed, but in the case of the Startup-Script the
user can Logon even if the Startup-Script didn't complete.
The script works in background and will not be displayed.
Any idea, how can I force the execution in foregr...

Startup on Windows 2000
I am having difficulty coming to grips with Appendix B.2 of the
otherwise very useful "An Introduction to R" and the related help file
for Startup. I am running RGui 1.6.0 on a Windows 2000 machine from the
default installation. How the concepts discussed in B.2 and the Startup
help file relate to what I see on my machine is something of a mystery.
I quote from the Startup file:
"In R, the startup mechanism is as follows.

coolest startup?
OK, general question for the community -- what''s the coolest startup
using Rails? I don''t think "37 Signals" is a fair answer. I''m curious
as to what kind of other developments are happening. Are there a lot
of startups using Rails in the first place? Or do most of you who are
lucky enough to do Rails for a living (I''m coding Jav...

auto 'modprobe wct1xxp' on startup?
...nd configuration
is fairly stable at this point, I'm interested it ensuring that during
the event of a power failure, when the power returns (or if the machine
is manually restarted) that Asterisk will successfully load on the other
side (automatically).
I've used the provided asterisk startup script (which I moved to
/etc/rc.d/init.d) and RedHat's 'chkconfig' to make sure that Asterisk is
started on bootup, but the problem I'm having has to do w/ the wct1xxp
module, I believe.
When I want to start Asterisk manually, I just type 'modprobe wct1xxp'
and my two...

question about windows Rgui.exe startup
...ll,
I had a specific question about the loading of objects
into R. I apologize in advance if I have overlooked anything in the
manual but as far as I can tell I have yet to find a solution to my
problem.
I am on a Windows platform.
So what I am trying
to do is have R read in a binary file on startup from the Windows system
command line and startup Rgui.exe with these options without having to
change Rprofile.site.
I have written a script called myscript.r which allows R to read in the binary files and load my objects.
I would like to load up those object from binary format "on startup&...

Systemd spends 6 min. to startup a host
Hi all,
I have a strange behavior with a CentOS7 host (fully patched). I have
configured nics as old style format: ifcfg- ... due to I need to use
openvswitch for my vms.
All works well, except when I reboot this server. Systemd spends 6
min. to startup this host!!! .. It stops with: "A start job is running
for LSB: Raise network ...".
Are not supposed that systemd startups hosts more faster??
ok, is it possible to fix this??
Thanks.

Question about startup script
Hello,
I find in shutdown.txt file that before system boot after a power failure, it's better to check powerdown flag to be sure and pausing in the startup script to let the batteries recharge with filesystem.
So i want to know which startup script is concerned? For the system or for nut?
Thanks to explanation.

I shut the server down last evening due to power surges and when I tried
to bring it back up, it stops at starting sendmail. Is there a way

This behaviour is congruent with SELinux. One utility adjusts the
permanent configuration, the one that will be applied at startup.
Another changes the current running environment without altering the
startup config. From a sysadmin point of view this is desirable since
changes to a running system are often performed for empirical testing.
Leaving ephemeral state changes permanently fixed in the startup
config could, and almo...

Setting default or startup directory for win32 program
...Z: drive appears to be mapped to \
If I try to start it from within Konqueror, or create a link on the desktop,
it gives an error that basically means it's not in the correct directory.
Does the concept of default directory apply here? If this was Windows, the
problem would be that it's startup directory is wrong, although I created
the link in the proper directory. So, I'm thinking that I just don't know
how to specify the correct startup directory.
So, my question is, how do I start a win32 app with wine and force/specify a
startup directory?

Sys.getenv at startup is not working properly
Hello,
when using
Sys.getenv() during startup-phase (.First or .Rprofile)
to get the env-variables
COLUMNS as well as HOST I get empty strings.
After the startup is done, when asking via Sys.getenv()
by hand, COLUMNS is set (but HOST is not, even "hostname" on the shell gives me
a correct answer).
At the moment my problem is the m...

Fast startup does not get utilized for reboots, only for regular shutdowns.
The actual option in Windows settings reads:
"This helps starts your PC faster after shutdown. Restart isn't a...
