under /etc/init.d are all system startscripts on SuSE Distributions. So

Question about win2000 and samba
Hi All,
I setup Samba 3.09 with LDAP and everything seems to work fine. (shres, permissions, startscripts)
But we have the following problem on Win2000 machines: If you start the machine and Login on the domain everythings seems to go fine. Then the startscript will be loaded and works fine.
When I go to my computer, I see a red cross in every sharemapping. But when I click on the sharemapping it s...

Kernel-utils stupidities (readahead and cpuspeed)
...peed-drivers are built into the
kernel. Here, cpu speed-management works, as the
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_driver -file exists (tested for
in /etc/init.d/cpuspeed). On CentOS4-i386, the powernow-k8-module is not
built into the kernel, so the above test fails, and the cpuspeed startscript
exits.
There seems to be a plan for this. The /etc/cpuspeed.conf file can specify a
DRIVER variable, but no attempt is made to insmod this, so even if this is
set, cpuspeed still fails. A simple fix is to check for the presence of the
above /sys entry, and if that is missing, modprobe $DRIVER....

samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - winbind breaks it again
...to
use lib, betting it should fit.
x86_64-linux-gnu I replaced with i386-linux-gnu
- nsswitch.conf
I added the winbind as stated
- samba start
now samba wont start anymore. I guess samba will be replaced by smbd,
nmbd and winbindd (error message in daemon.log hints at that)
for which I have no startscripts. any quick solutions or do I have to
manually fix it?
the link for start script under starting the daemons will lead to the
site I got my script from though...
- testing
wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g show nothing and no error
- configure wrong?
I did not use --with-ads --with-shared-modules=idmap_a...

Monitoring filessytem access
When somebody is hammering on the system, I want to be able to detect who''s
doing it, and hopefully even what they''re doing.
I can''t seem to find any way to do that. Any suggestions?
Everything I can find ... iostat, nfsstat, etc ... AFAIK, just show me
performance statistics and so forth. I''m looking for something more
granular. Either *who* the

Samba 4.2 as AD DC on Raspberry Pi 2 + Raspbian - some notes, more questions
...same place twice (I did not log
those, sorry!), nothing google could help with
- Sometimes, starting make after a failure would finnish without errors
- I could get it to build and make install
- (trying to build with man pages still doesnt work, very reproduceable)
- when trying to chmod 755 the startscript I once got a segfault. chmod
without parameters produced the segfault as well, gone after reboot -
very strange
after "succesfully" building and setting samba up, it
- sometimes would refuse to start
- started to show the same dns problems as described in my first post,

O.K., but what's the difference between asterisk-1.6 and asterisk-1.8,
or why won't asterisk-1.8's startscript produce this error?

a nasty kernel oops
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have been trying to sort out a nasty kernel oops for which I would
like to ask for some advice. I don't actually think that this is a nut
problem, although it is triggered by upsdrvctl or usbhid-ups. I rather
suspect the USB library or the associated kernel code.
Here is the configuration information:
* system: Centos-5.5
* kernel: 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5, latest vanilla
