real serial port output from pxelinux.0
Hello,
On a computer with a real serial port do I mis some output.
It is 'real serial port' as opposed to virtual hardware.
The text that I mis is 'My IP address seems to be' and
the decreasing hexadecimal IP-adress staircase.
The banner and the copyright message are displayed.
pxelinux.cfg/default is fetched and its "SAY command" is shown.
Have a look at this <screenshot>

NTP Service Running on Local Host does not Sync System Time
Hi List
I have ntp running as a service on a PC, with the expectation that it
would keep time in synch to my ntp server.
However, while I can manually update the time using "ntpdate -u ...",
I find that if I manually force the wrong time, the ntpd service does
not automatically re-synch the system time with the ntp server:
- Current time:

Apart from that, the ntp-implementation (or chrony nowadays) "wants" to
have more than one time source.

com32: \n to \r\n?
Hi,
I wonder if CRLF conversion should be done in the com32 library.
com32/modules is full of standard C printf("...\n") statements, which
display OK on VGA but produce staircase effect over a serial
connection. The core terminates each line with CRLF, which comes out
OK in both cases. I patched mboot.c to make its output readable, and
could do so with the other modules as well, but is that really the
right direction? I hope the concept of binary/ASCII open modes will
no...

ntpd won't make drastic changes in the time, if its too far off. its
designed to stabilize the clock by making small changes in speeding it
up or slowing it down, and not 'staircase' setting it absolutely.
IMHO, ntpdate -u should be run before starting ntpd so the clock is
close to spot on up front, I have sometimes added this to the
/etc/init.d/ntp scripts. with systemd, this woudl be trickier to
implement, maybe a seperate 'service' thats runs the ntpddate...

You don't need to do that. If you have one or more ntp servers listed
in /etc/ntp/step-t...

Problems using The Ultimate Traffic Conditioner from the Cookbook
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
I''m absolutely new to tc and found The Ultimate Traffic Conditioner to be
exactly what I wanted as a starting point.
Now the script doesn''t behave as I expected though, which applies to both the
CBQ and HTB versions, the latter of which being my preference.
The only changes made to the script are these assignments:

make lo-fi sound as good as RealAudio?
Can someone who really knows the Ogg command-line encoder, help recommend the best setting for 33.6k modem stereo music streaming?
(56k doesn't count cuz many people's 56k modems don't work at a full 56k, and I want them to be able to surf CD Baby at the same time as listening. 2 minutes / 120 seconds of audio should be about 400k.)
I'm at my wit's end: tried everything I

Large discrepancies in the same object being saved to .RData
Hi developers,
After some investigation I have found there can be large discrepancies in the same object being saved as an external "xx.RData" file. The immediate repercussion of this is the possible increased size of your .RData workspace for no apparent reason.
The function and its three scenarios below highlight these discrepancies. Note that the object being returned is exactly

Best Printer Setup
Hi,
I've been toying with the idea of using the Linux machine as a print
server. I'm using RedHat 5.2 and Samba 2.0.3. I already have one remote
printer share working... but I can't figure out where the PrintTool in
RedHat is storing the remote printers IP address. Anyone know where? :)
(not important just bugging me - I hate when OS's hide stuff)
I have the Samba book

[Bug 46557] New: nouveau: nv40 display corruption in framebuffer and X lockups unless nouveau.noaccel=1

When I start nouveau with 2D acceleration the framebuffer is unusable
(typically displays frozen contents of the last shutdown), but the keyboard is
responsive. Once X starts, the display is unreadable - anything to a tiled
staircase picture to a partially solid grey screen, with no mouse cursor, and
the keyboard locks up - no responsive from the caps/num/scroll locks keys,
however it DOES respond to Magic SysRQ. The machine itself doesn't seem hard
locked, though.
The syslog is spammed with tons of message from the nouvea...
