FW: Some queueing disciplines that I wrote.
...ategies argue that equal throughput for each flow or host (sometimes called "Processor Sharing" or "Fair Queueing") is the wrong goal. Mice and Elephants strategy response times are significantly better than those obtained using Fair Queuing. Shortest Remaining Processing Time (SRPT) has been shown to give better results than Processor Sharing for a range of measures including average task turnover time [36]. [36] uses mean task turnover time divided by job length as a measure of starva- tion, and shows both analytically and by simulation that no class of jobs are worse off wh...

Centos 7.5 on Vmware
...ting through virsh and generally with other OS tools (bash, python, etc.). I've recently dabbled with an old piece of hardware to implement a ZFS on Linux CentOS 7 KVM/Qemu host. This has worked really well but I haven't put any effort in to expanding the configuration to share storage via SRPt or iSCSI Targets even though these options are possible. Having made the jump from VMware to KVM/Qemu on CentOS 7, I wouldn't look back. Tom -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Prioritzing SYNs and SYN-ACKs with Diffserv
...se of Diffserv. From a paper I read I understood that when Diffserv is on, all "Control Traffic", including TCP SYN-ACKs, gets by default into "band 0" of Diffserv, the highest priority out of 16 bands. If true, this can suit my needs. The paper name is "Implementation of SRPT Scheduling in Web Servers", and they used kernel version 2.2.14 with a Diffserv patch. I am using kernel version 2.4.3, which I built with all "QoS and Fair Queueing" options on. My question is, what should I do now to make the prioritizing behaviour described above work ? any tc co...

Centos 7.5 on Vmware
Everyone, I am in the initial study phase of putting together a larger virtual server while using Centos 7.5 as the operating system of choice for the ?individual virtual machines. How do you all like VMware for this, or what other software allows for the development of virtural servers that use Centos 7.5 Thanks ahead of time for giving me a head start with your experiences!!!! --?
