Optional WHOIS netname on login banner
I think this is probably my first post to this mailing list, so hello!
Occasionally I log in to my servers from IP addresses without reverse DNS configured, so sometimes I'll see an IP I don't recognise because I can't remember what I did the day before and get a bit spooked until I WHOIS the IP and find the netname reminds me I logged in from that IP.
I set out prepared to script it, but I understand that the reporting of failed/last logins is only really configurable at source, so instead of submitting a hilarious poorly coded patch from which I receive numerous cri...

objects intermittently shared between vignettes
...gnette is built manually, at
least under RStudio on Mac OS X 10.11.4 using R 3.3.0?
For an example, see
install.packages("pkgW2vignettes", repos="http://R-Forge.R-project.org")
This package contains two toy vignettes.
This is not a big deal, but it spooked me, when I saw 227 objects
listed by "objects()" in a vignette built by "R CMD build" + "R CMD
check", when the same "objects()" command only listed 4 objects when I
built the same vignette by itself from within RStudio.
Enjoy,

Assertion failure in 2.2.20
My system had the following error sent to syslog:
kernel: Assertion failure in ext3_free_blocks() at balloc.c line 358:
"bh->b_committed_data != NULL"
Immediately before that with the same timestamp was a sendmail entry. The
system locked up shortly after that. I never saw an oops. I was tailing
/var/log/messages in a terminal. That syslog entry was not saved to disk. I

Adding SELinux support to Puppet
I''ve been doing some work lately to create new native types that allow Puppet
to manage SELinux features natively. So far, I have:
- Policy module loading, unloading, and upgrading
- File context
- SEL Booleans
There''s plenty more work that could be done, but with these three working it
should be at a point where it''s useful to start getting real work done.

Problem installing gdb into Rtools42
Thanks for the detailed feedback Tomas,
I ran the command 'pacman -Syuu' again, just to be sure, and this time it
says "there is nothing to do."
It appears that gdb is working. I was spooked by the diagnostics that you
say is a known (not serious) issue.
My mistake was not setting a breakpoint on main, so I confused problems
with gdb with problems with the program I'm trying to debug!
Incidentally, my remark about mingw-w64 problems in other communities
alluded to the Haskell dev...

Yes. 2K inbound / outbound calls a day to 30 remote locations, aggregated to
2 PRI's tied together with IAX2. All with IP address specified rather than
hostname. All with Asterisk 1.0.9. All with 99.9% completion rate, and it
would be 99.999% if we weren't using consumer grade DOCSIS cable modems in

Centos 4 and Supermicro ICH7R
Hi:
I've tried to install centos 4.3 in a raid array, setuped on bios as
mode "Adaptec". The chip is ICH7R but centos always sees 2 drives
instead of the array that I create.
I've contacted Supermicro support and they gave me this link
ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/SATA/Adaptec_ICH7R/Linux/Redhat/ , but
the disk drivers I tried to use with centos 4.3 did not work, saying

Should I use gbde or geli?
Hello out there, everybody!
I was actually expecting to find several (hundred) threads with this
subject being discussed. To my surprise I didn't find a single one
either on these mailing lists or in the newsgroups - at least not in a
language I understand. :-)
I realize that gbde and geli are not designed to be better than the
other but that both fit different needs and different tastes.

What business IP phone to use
I have been struggling with this issue for about a year now. There were
just too many IP phones to choose from at all sorts of price points and not
enough information about any of them. Now I am looking at the situation
again and if anything it has gotten worse. There are even more phones and
all sorts of opinions. For every person that says phone x is great there is
someone else complaining

Nope. Occasionaly I attempt to keep us compiling --with-ssl, but I
don't think anybody actualy tests it. (I might add some tests to the
build farm soon).

Hi all.
Is anyone using Samba 2.2.x with SSL support?
I have tried compiling it with OpenSSL 0.9.6a, but I got a warning that got me spooked. There is a function that registers a handler (for cyphers or something like that), which is a pointer to a function. Well, the definition of THAT function in Samba and OpenSSL differ in the number of parameters.
Calling SSL with this setup would, IMHO, lead to a crash (different number of paramet...
