usage of --two-pass parameter with ffmpeg2theora?
...p4 Now I'm trying use --two-pass parameter with ffmpeg2theora 0.25+svn16645 - Xiph.Org libtheora 1.1 20090822 (Thusnelda) if I just add --two-pass, then I'm getting Could not set up the first pass of two-pass mode. Did you remember to specify an estimated bitrate? if I add --two-pass --speedlevel 0 -V 400 or --two-pass --speedlevel 0 -V 300 size is the same and I don't see difference. How I shall properly use --two-pass ? Is -V really needed or --videoquality is used instead? Thank you, Jiri -- Jiri Navratil, http://www.navratil.cz, +420 777 224 245

Theora encode/decode performance is poor with resolution 640X480
Hi, We build a Voip client with Iaxclient(Jiaxclient+Iaxclient2.1beta1+Theora1.0+libvidcap0.21),when we established video call with resolution 640X480 in both sides,the CPU is consumed about 100%,the workload of Asterisk server is good at that moment.This issue does not exist with the resolution 320X240, the environment is as following, - CPU Interl Celeron 2.66GHz,RAM1GB, - Windows XP

theora's encoding speed
Is there any way to get better encoding speed out of ffmpeg2theora? eg: <snip> Duration: 00:57:04.92, <snip> ET: 02:06:24 here is the command: ffmpeg2theora --soft-target -V303 -v4 -F25 -K25 --croptop 8 --cropleft 2 --cropright 2 -x360 -y288 --deinterlace --aspect 4:3 -H24000 -A56 --optimize "<filename.mpg>" also the bitrate, 300kbits == 297kb (3 kbit less)

Strange results encoding with latest ffmpeg2theora-0.24 and playback on Directshow through Winamp
...le reduction game, nothing beats Ogg Vorbis and I can personally say this from my own experience. So a huge thank you to the team. I've tried for the first time to encode an AVI file from my digital camera to .ogv using ffmpeg2theora. I came across a few potential bugs. First, if changing the speedlevel parameter to 0 or using the Optimize parameter, and an output file is not specified, the encoder does not automatically assume the same input Filename.avi to output Filename.ogv. Also, in order to playback using Winamp, I installed the Ogg Codec from the download page, and added the .ogv extension...

Further bug discovered with the Directshow decoder
...but I must say, it's marvelous thus far for a team of people who do this as a charity project! Also, I've figured that when using the --Optimize switch in FFMpeg2Theora, it does correctly assume the correct output filename.ogv from input filename.vob. It is probably only a problem using -Speedlevel 0. Sorry for miss-reporting earlier. Also, my experience with that result was when feeding a .avi file so not sure with other formats. Also still not sure why videos from my digital camera whose audio is 11025 sampling speed,, outputs to a distorted scrambled sound result in the ogv output. Vid...

Live Streams
Hello, i am member of red5 project. I am studying ways to integrate your codec into red5 and in a near future inside Flash Player. I want to figure some things about Theora codec. -> Is theora proper for live streams (i.e live transcondig webcam)? What is latency for encoding process? -> Is the format tolerant to lost frames? Thanks for the moment.
