Nis homedirs
Greetings, I'm using 2.0.0-alpha13 on Solaris (compiling with gcc 2.8.1 on Solaris 2.5, running on 2.5, 2.5.1, and 2.6). I see this in the smb.conf.5 man page: nis homedir (G) Get the home share server from a NIS (or YP) map. HPUX 9.05 & Samba 2.0.0 & problems !
Hi there ! I just upgraded (last friday night) our main Samba host to Samba 2.0.0 from version 1.9.18p10. This host provides access to our own file based database system. The number of Samba clients is around 60 (nearly all NT4.0's and few NT3.51's). The Samba 2.0.0 host runs 'uname -a': HP-UX vertex A.09.05 A 9000/720 65914162 two-user license After the upgrade change I've

My environment is Solaris 2.7 on a Sparc5 workstation - we use NFS/automount/NIS+ I have installed Samba on a test system before doing so on our main server (Enterprise 4000). Any advice as to what my error(s) are would be most appreciated. Whenever I try to add a user, I receive the following: Using Unix account login and password: make_...

I'm not sure if I should be using the user's Unix userid/passwd or his/her Win/NT userid/passwd information. Note - most of our users are on PCs running Wi...

To reiterate (I had mentioned this in previous 'help' emails) I installed Samba on a Sparc5 running Solaris 2.7 with automount/NFS/NIS+ (master server, an Enterprise 4000, does not have Samba). Please can someone tell me what I need to do to get this working? I really need to get this up and going as soon as possible. TIA, Deborah Deborah Santomauro Unix System Administrator Lockheed...

...amba package - i.e. in Solaris you can use 'pkgrm' to remove a software package completely? 2. should I include the flags "--with-nisplus" "--with-nisplus-home" and "--with-automount" during the configuration phase? (running NFS/automount/NIS+ in a Solaris 2.7/Sparc5 environment - Note: if I can get Samba to run right I will eventually be putting it on an Enterprise 4000 server) 3. is there any known problems/issues running Samba in a NIS+ environment? Are there special flags, options that should be included so that Samba is happy with NIS+? 4. does a user'...
