Network Neighborhood shows Linux icon doesn't allow to open, debug Marathon
After going through the /usr/doc/samba-1.9.17p4/DIAGNOSIS.txt file
(GREAT debug/diagnostic tool!!!!!!!) I'm closer than ever!!!!!!!!
I now SEE THE Linux machine name in my Network Neighborhood!!!!!!!!! I
can ping both machines without any problem from both machines (W98 and
Red Hat 5.1).
I have edited the registry to allow plain text passwords.
When I try net view from my W98 machine I see

Using Ogg Vorbis for an online nightclub
Hey all,
Our group (www.esconline.org) is making an online, 3D nightclub, and
we're thinking of using the Ogg Vorbis format for the music. Some
questions:
1. The Ogg Vorbis format does a good job with mono streams at 64
kb/sec. However, we were hoping for 56 kb/sec or lower. Is there a
timeline for when Ogg Vorbis will support those bitrates?
2. We need to store additional data along

Problem using POST with IE 6
Hey guys, hope one of you can help me.
I have the following code that works with Firefox but not within IE.
The basic premise is that when using a POST to send to my page, IE
doesn''t seem to send it and therefore doesn''t fire the database update.
GET''s work fine in IE but due to the potential volume of text, a GET
is not realistic.
In Firefox, GETs and POSTs work as

Zaptel doesn't see remote hangup ? euro-isdn
Hi
Just received my spanky new TE405P today to replace my Cisco gateway...
After much fiddling (I forgot to switch it to E1) I got it to work and
everything "seems" to work perfectly on our ISDN PRI.
If I dial-in from the PSTN to a SIP phone, the call goes through and if I
hangup either the SIP phone or the remote end, the call gets disconnected
and destroyed
However, if I dial-in

Re: On which /dev/pts/x is channel source
Hi,
I just tested by using "unix virtio" channel instead of pty.
It looks easier to handle.
Thx for help.

Re: Isolated networks && test lab
Lesson learned. I think I had the same IP address assigned to my VM
router as I did the Host.
Side question: where are the virtual networks stored when you create
them w/VM Manager?

Re: Isolated networks && test lab
Thank you! I am still playing with KVM, and will more than likely setup
my lab as you suggest in order to isolate the guests from the host. Not
sure if I can create an isolated network from VM Manager.

Re: Isolated networks && test lab
Sorry, just realized there is a VMmanager app too (free version seem to
only have support for Debian 7 though.) I am using the Virtual Machine
Manager GUI (virt-manager.)

Re: Isolated networks && test lab
Thanks again!
Can you tell me the difference in setting things up that way as opposed
to updating (in Ubuntu) /etc/network/interfaces and adding physical
br(idge) interfaces? On my other test box, I setup networks the way you
describe from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KVM/Networking

Loading a dll from another dll
I'm having trouble calling the Ogg Vorbis functions from my
code. Everything goes fine until the first call to an Ogg Vorbis
function, ov_open(), when the program crashes.
I'm calling ov_open() from another dll, which gets explicitly
loaded. Could that be the problem somehow? I guess I could include the
Ogg Vorbis source in my dll, but I'd like to do it "properly" if

ov_read() reading too little.
Hi,
I've ditched the idea of calling the oggvorbis .dlls, and I'm compiling
the 1.0beta3 source into my own dll. After opening as "rb" instead of
"r", the ov_open() call works. However, ov_read() seems to consistently
read less data than I ask for. My buffer is enough to hold two seconds
of data, 16 bit 44k mono, that's 176400 bytes. The first call to
ov_read()

fixing shuffle in ogg123
Hi,
There is a bug in the shuffle of ogg123 which was here at least until the
CVS version of 3 days ago. Here's our fix: (it seems to be not perfectly
equiprobable but at least fixes the old one which sometimes gives two
times the same song and never the other song)

Isolated networks && test lab
I'm trying to migrate my VirtualBox test lab to KVM. In my VB
configuration, I have several VM routers with 4 interfaces each. Each
router has a bridged interface which connects them all together and to
the outside world. I have servers/clients dispersed on each of the
other private (Isolated) segments that use the routers as default
gateways.
In trying to make this work, I used Virtual

Low bitrate high-band coding...
Hi,
I'd like to contribute to Vorbis and I think this may be of some interest for
low bitrate coding. I have been experimenting with low bit-rate coding for the
high-band (11 kHz to 22 kHz) and, though I haven't yet started quantizing my
coefficients (a gain and an LPC filter), I expect to be able to approximate the
whole 11-22 kHz band with around 1000 bits/s per channel (maybe even 500

Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
I came into this with my eyes wide open. I have read ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING
there is to be found on the net about avoiding echo problems BEFORE I even
attempted to create a production system. Since lots of people are
apparently using this in production environments now I just assumed that
echo IS avoidable.
As others have recommended, I created a test system with the proposed
production
