To do anything useful you would have to get sox installed on your server. But to get

SoX support
For those of you who want to be able to decode Ogg Vorbis files into other formats, SoX (the swiss army knife of audio programs) now has Ogg Vorbis support in CVS. It can read Ogg Vorbis files and export the audio in any format SoX supports. You can also write Ogg Vorbis with it, but, because of limitations in the design of SoX, only output at 128kbps is supported. Note: Instructions on how to

Speech recognition in asterisk using google voice API
Hello, I have written an agi script that uses google voice API for voice recognition. The script records from the current channel untill the pound key (#) is pressed or the timeout (15 seconds) is reached. The recording is send over to google speech recognition service and the returned text string is assigned to a channel variable. More info and dialplan examples can be found in the README file:

MOH native files
Where can I find alaw, ulaw, gsm, g729 formats for native music on hold? I have some mp3 files and I have tried to transcode them to above, but it seams that SOX can't do that. Please, tell me where to download some MOH files (in above formats) or how to transcode mp3? Thank you for your time! -- Tomislav Parcina tparcina#lama.hr

macro error "exited non-zero"
On this macro I keep getting exited non-zero on s,3, but s,3 is doing what it is suppose to do but the macro stops. Is there a way to make a macro ignore errors and continue to s,4? I have the lattes ver of sox 12.17.4. Also if I just run this line from the command line I don't get an error. Method to use SOX inside a Dialplan
I'm trying create a feature that allows a callers to add more speech to his recording. I think this can be done inside a dialplan, but I can't find an example of how to do this. Basically, after he records the primary message, a menu would play asking if he wants to append to this message. If yes, then he would record a temp file with the additional message and when done, I want SOX to

app_voicemail - Failed to open file ../tmp/xxxxx.WAV
Hi, Would anyone have a clue on this issue? I'm running asterisk 1.4.13. Trying to get a WAV voicemail file attachment sent to my email address. Voicemail is working fine. Email notification of a new message works fine. However, when I set up voicemail.conf to have an attachment of the file sent to email I get an error message like this on the console: [Feb 17 13:33:37]

Upgrading sox
Hi, I'm currently running an * version 1.2.13 and sox version 12.17.5. I want to upgrade sox to the newest release ( 12.18.2 ); need mp3 support. But how do I make the upgrade. Do I need to recompile asterisk afterwards? If I make a " sox -h" after a reboot I can see the new version is running but is that enough? _________________________________________________________________

flac/sox/etc with mp3 support?
I need to convert a bunch of .flac files to .mp3 files, but the sox and flac command tools thats in the base repo won't do that. EPEL doesn't seem to have much either. I went looking at ATRPMS but am getting database errors from their home page :( I know rpmforge used to have this stuff, but its virtually unmaintained today so I've written it off. any suggestions? Native MOH - Convert mp3 to ulaw
I'd like to use native moh instead of with mpg123... for some reason the processes never bloody die. For native moh to not spawn an external player, I'd need to convert the default supplied moh sound files in /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 to ulaw and g729 format. Anyone know of a free, easy way to convert them? Thanks, Doug.

Asterisk does not translate from wav to alaw
Hello list, I have a file to be played in wav-format. I thought Asterisk would automatically take the wav-file and translate it to the codec used, but I see this : [Aug 28 11:16:29] WARNING[2705]: file.c:664 ast_openstream_full: File /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/vprompts/*zip-code.wav* does not exist in any format [Aug 28 11:16:29] WARNING[2705]: file.c:991 ast_streamfile: Unable to open

.GSM -> .WAV (or ,MP3) Conversion
Hey there, I'm trying to convert some call recordings from asterisk we have in .gsm format to something I can pipe through ffmpeg - wav would be good, mp3 would be amazing! I've been trying playing with sox but I don't seem to be getting too far with 1239101491.30.gsm -ql -r 64000 -t wav 1239101491.30.conv.wav resample as ffmpeg borks at it: tim at freee-meee:~/dmc/call
