Problem with expire plugin and expunge
Hello,
I am running dovecot 2.0.9 with expire plugin, using the sqlite backend. The
following command is executed every day by cron:
doveadm expunge -A mailbox Trash savedbefore 30d
I started to use the expire plugin about one month ago. Since then,
using "doveadm search -A mailbox Trash savedbefore <days>" with different
values for <days>, I could see every day how

File copy speed differences... writing to SAMBA is faster than reading from it??!
Here's an interesting thing I notice between NTSP3 and Linux 2.0.33+ w/samba
1.9.18p8 [TCP_NODELAY, read prediction on, SND and RCV buffers to 64k, though
I've tried 16k, 32K, 64k, max size 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k, no difference]
When I copy a file from any share to my NT's HD, I get perhaps 280KB/sec.
When I copy from NT HD to Samba share, I get almost 1MB/sec. Doesn't matter

Markov transition matrices , missing transitions for certain years
Hi all,
I am working for nest box occupancy data for birds and would like to
construct a Markov transition matrix, to derive transition probabilities for
ALL years of the study (not separate sets of transition probabilities for
each time step). The actual dataset I'm working with is 125 boxes over 14
years that can be occupied by 7 different species, though I have provided a

dovecot 2.1.3 dsync Unexpected finish reply
I've been moving users from one system to another by doing a dsync
mirror operation. The first dsync mirror takes some time, because of the
number of users involved, so I am doing an initial sync, and then I
direct the users to the new location and do a final 'freshening' sync to
get any changes that happened during the longer sync.
The problem seems to be with this freshening sync,

routing TCP to another box preserving ORIGINAL client IPs
My TCP clients connect to box A. I need to forward those connections to a
server on box B, such that the original client IPs are visible to the server
on B.
Each box has two Ethernet ports. One port on each box is connected to WAN,
and they are cross-connected in a LAN via remaining ports:

question about the results given by the Box.test?
Hello, I am using the Ljung Box test in R to compute
if the resiudals of my fitted model is random or not.
I am not sure though what the results mean, I have
looked at various sources on the internet and have
come up with contrasting explanations (mainly because
these info deal with different program languages, like
SAS, SPSS, etc).
I know that my residuals should appropriate white

glm with nesting
I just had a manuscript returned with the biggest problem being the
analysis. Instead of using principal components in a regression I've
been asked to analyze a few variables separately. So that's what I'm
doing.
I pulled a feather from young birds and we quantified certain aspects of
the color of those feathers. Since I often have more than one sample
from a nest, I thought I

Remote system up/down monitoring tool?
I have a small number of boxes in different locations, and currently have
a fairly crude cron job running on each, which does a ping of one or more
of the other boxes, and if the ping fails, it emails me to say the other
box might be down. It then emails me again the next time the other box
appears to be up.
Of course, this can't distinguish between the remote box really being down
and there

Configuring Parallel SIP Trunks
Hi,
I'm trying to configure 2 parallel sip trunks between 2 boxes.
However I seem to have the problem that when making a call from Box 2
to Box 1, it sometimes
says authentication failed because it is using the username of the other trunk.
Here's my configuration:
Box 1:
[dp-dp2]
type=peer
username=dp-dp2
secret=mysecret
qualify=yes
host=box.2.ip.address
context=from-internal

Multiple servers using realtime
I am in the process of setting up several * servers using realtime and
connecting to mysql. I am trying to figure out if I should just use one
database and one set of tables for all of the user data. Or if I should
have separate databases for each * box. The boxes are independent of
each other in that customerA only connects to box A. They will never
fail over to box B or anything like

Call routing between two Asterisk boxes using SIP not working ...
Hello there!
I need some help to configure two Asterix boxes to route calls using SIP.
I followed the instructions present at this site:
but I couldn't get it working so far.
The only difference, besides the names that I've used, is that I'm using

plot 7 * 3 matrix on DIN A4 pdf
Hello,
I want to plot 21 scatter plots in a 7*3 matrix on a single A4 page
(using mfcol). Below is an example, which -by and large- looks very
close to the desired result. But I do not get it to fill out the whole
page. If I specify the a different page size, the plots still do not
fill out the whole page.
Anybody an idea what to do? Maybe adjusting indvidiual plot size (if
so, how?). Or is there

[PATCH 3/5] drm/virtio: fix byteorder handling in virtio_gpu_cmd_transfer_{from, to}_host_3d functions
Be consistent with the rest of the code base.
No functional change.
In theory this change is incompatible on bigendian machines,
but in practice 3d acceleration is supported only on little
endian machines, so the affected code paths never run on
bigendian machines.

SAMBA digest 1371
I've installed Samba ("latest") on SCO's openserver 5 with a WIN'95 hanging
off of it as a client.
I can run every test in DIAGNOSI.txt except for number 2. That is, the WIN'95
box can not ping the SCO box within a reasonable amount of time.
(SCO can ping the WIN'95 box fine). For the longest time I thought the WIN'95
box couldn't ping the SCO box but I

a VM does not get dhcp
hi everybody
I'm looking at my setup and got stuck
I have a box with two NICs on the same subnet, and another
box similar, also two NICs on one subnet, all four NICs are
on the same subnet.
Now, that second box has also a virtual NIC (libvirtd's
bridge route mode) and VMs guests are using it, traffic to
that virtual net is routed via 1st real NIC. This second box

ntp queries not being answered
Hello All,
My name is Gaurav, and I am tasked with configuring a linux box with
NTP.
I am having a problem that I hope you can help me with.
We have installed CentOS V5 on 1 processor down in the lab. The rest of
the processors on the network are AIX boxes versions 3.2.5 and 5.2. I
worked through the entire initial NTP configuration; setup the
/etc/ntp.conf file to point to the server, etc.

per-mailbox message limits
This is something Timo hacked up for me a few years ago and I realised
should be on the list in case anyone else wants them.
The following patches will limit maildir folders to 4000 messages on
Dovecot 2.0.* and 2.1.*
The Specfile patch is against the Cityfan Redhat EL5 SRPM but is likely
to work on most build platforms
Changing the message limit requires a recompile. It's brutal and
