Unfortunately, the domain XML is created by the OpenShift installer, over which I have no control. :-( Digging into the libvirt source, it doesn't look like there's any way to configure MAC address

Is it possible to configure libvirt's MAC generation?
Is it possible to configure libvirt to generate "predictable" MAC addresses for virtual NICS? (A configuration which accomplishes this by limiting the pool of available addresses would be acceptable for my use case.) Read on for why I want to do this ... I have a somewhat unusual use case. I am working with the OpenShift bare metal "IPI" installation process, which is

Running games from the ISO
...ed Alert Command & Conquer from the company's website -- they're being very generous and giving the old game away for free, presumably to try to drum up sales for the new RA game (which does look very good). The download consists of two ISOs; one for the Allied missions and one for the Soviets, which I've burnt to disc, and the game plays beautifully under Wine. But it does insist on the CD being in the drive. What I'd really like to do is play the game on the train using my netbook, but it doesn't have a CD drive so I obviously can't insert the CD when the game asks for...

Monitoring network traffic to a host
Background - I am having an issue with occassional pauses when streaming high-bitrate media across my home network to my smart TV. I *suspect* that the root cause is the (incredibly lame) 100 Mbps Ethernet interface in the TV. In order to confirm that the peak bitrate really does max out the 100 Mbps connection, I'd like to monitor the communication between my NAS and the TV. The two

Mail server troubles

Re: Is it possible to configure libvirt's MAC generation?
Specify the MAC address as part of the domain XML for the bootstrap node. See https://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsNICS. If using virt-install, set it as part of the --network option: "--network NETWORK,mac=12:34..." - Peter On Fri, 12 Jun 2020 at 18:07, Ian Pilcher <arequipeno@gmail.com> wrote: > Is it possible to configure libvirt to generate

Restart when convenient
I've moved 1 of our facilities over from 1.2 to 1.4 two weeks back. So far, the only issue that I've encounted is. I have a scheduled CRON job that runs at 3am every Sunday, that issues a: asterisk -rx 'restart when convenient' The first Sunday that it ran, Asterisk never restarted. The CRON logs show that it issued the command successfully. This Sunday, it ran but never

Off Topic: UPS units and heat generation
Hi all A slightly off topic post, but one that I think someone out there in the NUT community could probably help me with. Summer is coming, and my office at home is getting hot... helped in part by the APC 3KVA UPS I have sitting under my desk. It kicks out heat like a bar-heater, even when there is almost no load on it (idle load is one PC, one switch, one wireless AP, and thats it). It is

I''m writing an article about Rails and I need help
Hi to everybody, I''m writing an article about Ruby on Rails and I need to gather some information about the project and the community of core developers. In particular I''d like to know something about the organization of the project (how are decisions taken, who decides what goes into the project, conflict resolution, contributions acceptance...) and something more technical

Statistical data and Map-package
Dear helpeRs, I'm working with the map-package and came upon a problem which I couldn't solve. I hope onee of you can. If not, this can be seen as a suggestion for new versions of the package. I'm trying to create a map of some European countries, filled with colors corresponding to some values. Let's say I have the following countries and I assign the following colors

For Whom the Gaza Bell Tolls -- Part 1 By Edmund Connelly for The Occidental Observer January 16, 2008 ?The Israelis can kill whomever they want whenever they want.? --Paul Craig Roberts I sometimes think that it?s pointless for Americans to talk much about recent events in Gaza because we know how it will play out ? Mail server troubles
Hi, This is probably a bit OT, but here goes. I've been running our local school's mail server since 2013, with mail addresses for school staff and some teachers. The server is running CentOS 7 with Postfix and Dovecot, and it's a nice no-bullshit configuration with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. The school sends quite a lot of email out to parents, and sometimes, mail gets rejected:
