Packages of icecast 2.4-beta?
Hello,
At Sourcefabric we are testing Opus streams from the Airtime broadcast
automation system via Icecast 2.4-beta. Other developers in our
community are testing video streaming with Theora. We would like to make
it easier for our users to try this Icecast beta themselves.
Would it be premature for us to release a bac...

If you are using dpkg you probably have dependencies missing. Do you
have the Sourcefabric apt repository set up?

If you have any other trouble, please mail me offlist, as this is
getting off-topic for icecast-dev.
Cheers!

Streaming AAC with libshout?
Hi Greg,

An alternative explanation might be that open source developers were not
particularly motivated to work on improving AAC encoders, because of
difficulties experienced when trying to distribute patent-encumbered code.

Icecast statistics dashboard with Piwik
Hi all,
I often hear requests for a modern, open source analytics dashboard for
use with Icecast. I wrote up some step-by-step instructions for using
Piwik with Icecast log files here:
http://sourcefabric.booktype.pro/airtime-25-for-broadcasters/icecast-statistics-with-piwik/
Hopefully this is useful. We are also hearing good things about Kibana,
but I personally haven't tried it yet:

Cheers!

question on Icecast & licenses
Hello.
Did anyone who launched Icecast server for his own radiostation acquired
any licenses for playing music from artists or labels (sound recording
companies)? Or you just pay royalties?
For ex., if you play some track of F.Goya, do you get some licenses from
him on his track or his label?
Thanks
Konstantin

Hiya! And a question...
New to the list (and forum, but waiting for a moderator to approve - hence my question here) but not new to icecast.
I have a question - I'm running an Airtime install with Icecast - and yes I asked them first but this has flummoxed them over at Sourcefabric - anyone had a problem with a HQ (192kbs) stream rebuffering every few seconds during a FTP/SSH upload to a remote streaming server? Strangely the libShout and low (mono 96kbs) streams are fine during this, but not streamhigh (the HQ stream). I'm only uploading one file?doesn't seem to matt...

...ackage out of this.
We can provide a wiki page on that, sure, although we would probably go
one step further and actually provide the packages for our target
distros too (Debian stable/testing and Ubuntu 10.04/12.04 LTS).

We provide apt.sourcefabric.org which is not a PPA as such, it's a
regular apt repo.

and is one of the reasons I do not exclusively use Icecast for the stations

Javascript source client
Hey all,
So we have been advised from this thread
https://github.com/muaz-khan/WebRTC-Experiment/issues/28#issuecomment-18385702
to not use http put as it is not in real-time, instead they are
suggesting the use of SDP, is that something that icecast supports? Or
does anyone have other ideas on this?

Following their search tool I only found SuSE packages:
http://software.opensuse.org/package/icecast
but if they are willing to help, it's all good.

After several weeks of trying and calling my provider and talked to your
support i gave up on
airtime, because it does not work on a virtualized system, it seems the

...the
live feed is inactive, use Liquidsoap (

savonet.sourceforge.net).
? It is a "programming language for audio," so you are able to program what
happens with your stream completely trough the command line.
For a novice, something similar to the open-source Airtime (
http://www.sourcefabric.org/en/airtime/features/) would be better. This
piece of software is based on liquid soap, but includes a sweet graphical
interface. Your DJ's will be able to upload music, automate music or make
playlists even trough their browsers.?
