has anyone tried adsl-optmizer kernel patches for dsl modems?
Hi
I''m using wondershaper like script. But noticed imperfect scheduling.
By googling, I found some patches that takes the aal5 atm overhead in
the scheduling algorithms.
http://www.adsl-optimizer.dk/ADSL-optimizer/
Before trying it, has anyone tried these patches? they apply on 2.4.29
kernel and 2.6.9 TC. I use centos4 with a 2.6 kernel, so I can''t try
these easily.
Thanks

postfix pb with mass emails
...em was that when one of
the recipients was unreachable, the mail went into defered state, to be
retried later. The problem (bug?) is that the mail was sent again to all
50 recipients, explaining why so many users received lot of mails.
Anyone had a similar problem?
Any suggestion for that?

dag repo and perl dependencies naming
Hi
I'm trying to install amavisd-new from dag repo on centos3.
In the spec file perl dependencies use parenthesis: perl(Digest::MD5)
it also uses '-': perl-MailTools
The problem is that only the second notation is available: perl-MD5
I know this is an old problem. Is this only centos related?
Is there a workaround?
Do I have to modify the spec file? I'd like to use yum...

cyrus idled not in the cyrus-imapd rpm?
Hi
I successfully installed cyrus + postfix on my centos 4.2 box.
When trying to make imap idle working, I noticed that there is no idled
executable in the rpm.
Do I have to recompile cyrus from source to get idled working?
Thanks

freenx in rootless mode and session resume anyone?
Hi
I suceeded to run freenx on centos3 with the nomachine client, but I
still have some issues.
First I can only get a new whole desktop (kde) session. I cannot resume
it, and it always leave tons of process that I have to kill from root.
I don't need the whole kde desktop, and only want to have single
windows. This is called the rootless mode I think and cannot make it
work, it simply

2.6 Kernel Differences
I am running CentOS 4, and trying to get an unsupported program running on
it. This program makes a lot of socket calls and has to run as an
unprivileged user. I think I remember reading somewhere that the 2.6
kernel requires superuser rights for some socket operations. Is there a
way to disable this in the 2.6 kernel? Which ports require the superuser
rights?
Thanks,

centos31 anaconda bug with lvm lvcreate?
...d all other partitions including root (/)
The anaconda crashed because of an error in lvcreate for the root
partition.
Is there a problem with that?
I did reboot and restarted with then same config and it is now installing.
I have saved the debug info on a floppy if anyone interested.
Thanks

is centos3.1 compatible with dag's el3 repo?
Hi All
What is the major difference between version 3 and 3.1?
Is there any incompatibilities for rpms?
For example I wish to install evms from dag's repo. Is there any problem?
Thanks for your great job.

Where to download a centos4 livecd image?
Hi
I can't find a place where I can download a centos4.x livecd iso
I only found a centos5 image on the web.
Can anyone give me an url?
I'd like to clone centos4 machines, using the livecd.
I used a systemrescue live cd image to create the filesystem structure
with evms, and copy all files, but have problems with installing grub,
because the version is not the same.
I imagine it would

LARTC wiki site?
Hi
What about a wiki site on the lartc.org website?
Or a faq manager?
There are a lot of applications that should be out of the lartc document
and that can be in a wiki.

Sip Traffic
Hi.
there is a way to MARK udp VOIP (SIP) traffic,
in order to put in a highest prio class ?
Traffic flow seems start on udp 5060 port, but
next both server and client seems jump to a
random(?) port.
I can''t use CONNMARK because is udp traffic.
I only see a pattern for L7 patch in order to
SIP traffic identification , but I run 2.4
kernel series .
When you patch 2.4 kernel with

FreeNX documentation and other miscellanea
I was having trouble connecting to the server that I am using for remote
development so I updated things and rebooted.
Connected into FreeNX nicely after that...wonder if there is issues with
memory leaks or something...
Anyway, it appears that the nxagent grabbed port 3000 which is what I
was using for rubyonrails/webrick (I probably can change that) which
sort of tells me that when I first

Optimizing linux for the routing of realtime video
I''m currently trying to optimize a linux machine which acts as a Layer 3
router of RTP H.263 video. Occassionally I''ll get delays related to layer 2
wireless retries, thus rendering the video on the recieving end
stale/useless.
Is there way to optimize a linux machine to route realtime video? In my
case, losing a few frames of H.263 is better than having the video delayed

UDP multicast stream and NAT
Hi, my ISP is streaming some local concert using UDP
multicasting. I followed the instructions on the site which
described how to set VLC in order to view the stream, but
it didn''t work. I am behind a Linux router/firewall doing
NAT. Using google, I quickly found out that the
netfilter/conntrack code doesn''t support NATing multicast
traffic. I thought about bridging the internet

can't find python24 rpms for centos4 64bit anymore!
Hi
I'm using python24 under centos4 for a webware application.
I downloaded it from atrpms repository some time ago.
I'm installing a new VPS with centos4 64bit, and can't find any python24
package!
python.org pyvault doesn't support 64 bit architectures, and atrpms
don't make python24 packages anymore.
I don't have 64 bit architecture at home so I can't recompile

max latency with htb and wondershaper for voip and p2p
Hi
I''m actually using a wondershaper derived script.
The problem I have is that when I ping (ping is in high priority queue)
the ping time is not as low as I expected with p2p running:
760 packets transmitted, 760 received, 0% packet loss, time 759695ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 39.667/62.863/598.539/33.287 ms, pipe 2
With voip, it is much better with the qos but it is still a little
