Switch language
Hi there, I've installed R somewhen in German but I'd like to have it in English. The installation of a new version does not change the language setting though I think I've chosen "English" in the installation process (this choice was available, right?). Can anybody give me a hint? (Error-Messages in German are...

"old" rpm version package handling broken!? (SuSE8)
Hi! Using (among others) the pretty old SuSE8.1, I cant get puppet to install packages. The rpm programms bahaviour was changed somewhen between versions 3 and 4 (sry, donĀ“t know exactly when) and the old version does not support the "--nosignature" and "--nodigest" params and "--oldpackage" is purely an update parameter so when trying to install a package I allways get a "oldpackage must only...

support for ALIAS records
Hello! Does nsd support ALIAS records or is there a plan to support it somewhen in the future? I didn't find anything about this topic in conjunction with nsd. Afaik there is no RFC for it and I guess therefore nsd does not support it. PowerDNS does for example: https://doc.powerdns.com/authoritative/guides/alias.html Br, Christof -------------- next part --------------...

sambaLMPassword
I have a Samba-PDC installation (version is 3.6.3) with openLDAP. When I change the password from a client (Windows/XP and Windows/7) the attribute "sambaNTPassword" is changed and I can log-in with the new pssword. The problem is that the content of the attribute "sambaLMPassword" is deleted. I remember that in my previous version of Samba (3.0.28) both attributes were

Migrate from Tinc-VPN v1.0 to TINC-VPN v1.1
...lem. In the package requirements list of the tinc package in experimental [1], you will note that the version requirements at least for libc6 and libssl1.1 will not work with wheezy. Thus it will not be that easy. Your options seem to be: A) upgrade your system to Stretch (you will need to do this somewhen, anyway) B) build the package from experimental on your wheezy system See [2] for a good documentation. You can stop reading after "Rebuild without changes". You will need to try, if the package can be built in a wheezy environment. C) follow Rafael's suggestion and build tin...

Hi Marc, I am guilty of this as much as anyone, but there is nowhere else to put this info. It would probably be better to have a page that lays out what computer name, domain and ipaddress etc the wiki uses. It should also stress that the wiki is based around a self compiled system as this i...

GPL java
For the people who are currently interested in java as it relates to centos now that Sun has GPL'd java there are some things to be aware of. The folks at jpackage.org are pretty much all over this development but it's not the bright shiny news everyone has made it out to be. Sun did a very good thing by moving java under the GPL, and they should be commended for FINALLY seeing the light

[PATCH 1/4] virtio_blk: deprecate the 1024-byte ID field.
PCI, lguest and s390 can all only support 256-byte configuration space. So, this giant field broke just about everyone. Unfortunately, removing it is not so simple: we don't want to break old userspace, but we're going to want to re-use that part of the struct. So, modern users can #define VIRTIO_BLK_IDENTIFY_DEPRECATED to indicate that they know it's no longer in the config struct,
