Annoying semi-bug in flac
Dear all,
I use flac a lot and find it really useful. However, there is one slight issue that keeps bugging me.
When encoding/checking files with long filenames, you get output like this (usually much longer):
30 Gardiner, John Eliot Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists - 30 Recitative Und sie kamen eilend.flac: ok
21 Gardiner, John Eliot Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists - 21 Chorus Ehre sei Gott in der H?e.flac: ok
34 Gardiner, John Eliot Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists - 34 Recitative Und die Hirten kehrten wieder um.flac: testing, 29% comp...

A proposal to extend (create) a codified set of revisited and additional FLAC tags
Hello...
For the last three years, several of us have been developing a
FLAC-based digital music library for use at our radio station here in
northern California. This was started first as an experimentwith the
goal of understanding what it takes to make a useful library on a
central network file server. In the process, we developed an improved
and far more useful schema for tagging the

quick and easy way to convert id3-tagged flac to flac-tagged flac?
So before i knew better, i encoded a lot of my CDs in flac and added
id3 tags (they worked, so great!).
I know i've seen mention of others doing this; anyone gone to the
trouble to write a tag conversion tool? Shouldn't be too tough,
but i'd rather not reinvent the wheel.

Bad mime type reported for flac file
Hi all,
It has recently come to my attention that the linux "file" utility
reports some (but not all) of my flac files as having a mime type of
"audio/mpeg". Obviously this is incorrect, but why is it reported as
such? I've cut and paste a few commands below from my shell to
illustrate what I'm seeing:

Request for Standardization: classical music TAGS

[ Sorry for sending this twice; I sent it to the vorbis-dev list by

The ALBUM, ARTIST, TITLE, and TRACKNUMBER tags aren't sufficient for
classical music. MP3 muffed it, but since Vorbis is so flexible, I'd
like to propose that ogg123 recognize and display the following
optional tags, instead of giving an error message that it doesn't

(Classical) Request for Standardization of expanded TAGS
A month or two ago I sent an email to this list proposing to expand
the list of "standard" tags for Ogg Vorbis. No tag would be required,
but if you wanted to encode certain types of information about a file,
you could use a standard tag.
I went through the whole discussion, and revised my proposal in light
of all the comments from everyone. Here is the updated proposal.
