comparing fields within a record
Hi,
I hope this isn't a really simple question, I've been struggling with it
for a while.
I'm looking for a way to get a function to go through a data frame line by
line, compare fields, and produce a result, kind of a transform and an if
statement combined (I tried to put them together and it didn't work).
So, consider data Sales:

Hey Guys,
It sure seems I get stuck on things that should be easy.
Heres my question:

Calculating percentages across multiple columns
I have the following data and am trying to find the percentage of bid
values purchased for that price.
So let's say I have a bid of 5 and it's sold 2 times for $3 and $5. Since
the original bid was $5, the
percentage of times that that bid value results in a sold purchase AT that
specific bid level was
1/3 because of the three time where the bid was three, it ended up being
sold for $5

NA or work around ??
I've searched and tried several ideas (na.action. and other things), but I
can't see
to figure this out.
I'm guessing this is so simple I'll feel foolish for asking, but here goes.
Thanks,
L.A.

ISDN/SS7 book?
hi
some time ago, I asked the list of a good book for learning ISDN and
SS7. I don't need to know how to write a channel driver or something; I
just want to know more about the possibilities and what's really sent
back and forth. I was told the book "ISDN and SS7: Architectures for
Digital Signaling Networks" by Uyless Black (ISBN 0132591936) was a
good choice, but this

Geek Squad UPS Systems
We are interested in using Nut on our Federa 6.0 servers. However, our
UPS systems are sold under the name "Geek Squad" (sold through the Best
Buy chain of department stores). I'm pretty certain Geek Squad does not
manufacture these units and they just rebrand them. Does anyone know who
makes these units or what they are compatible with in terms of driver
level protocol? The ones we

DECT SIP phones
Hi folks:
I know it's come up a few times before, but I need some more detail.
I'm looking for a SIP DECT (cordless) phone for North American
installations. I've heard only of the Siemens Gigaset S450/C450 phones.
Apparently these aren't sold for use in NAm, even though they're
supposed to be legal (in the United States, anyway).
On top of that, I understand they have some

Vintage Attrition Curves
Hi There -
New to the list, so hopefully I don't mess this up too much ... I am
hoping maybe some of you can help me. I have a problem I'm trying to
solve regarding customer accounts, attrition and forecasting.
Basically, here is what I want to do (not sure of the best way):
1. Track accounts by vintage (i.e., the month of the date of sale).
2. Forecast total accounts at a given time

Compact, fanless appliance?
Hello
For those SOHO customers (ie. at most, a couple of POTS/ISDN
connections and simultaneous SIP calls) who'd rather not use a big,
noisy PC to run Asterisk, I'd like to offer an alternative that has
the following features:
- not old hardware sold on eBay, ie. it must be up-to-date hardware
sold by a company currently in business
- compact, silent
- has room for a 2.5" hard-disk,

OT Skype almost being sold
I know this is OT but I didn't read about it anywhere else and I don't
miss much so thought this may be of interest to other people on this
list.

How does one put centos on a laptop?
My understanding that laptops no longer come with optical drives.
Booting from an install disk would be difficult.

Repartition your harddisk
Backup your Master Boot Record (MBR)
Modifying your bootloader
My understanding is that most laptops have at most one harddisk.

Palm OS port
hello all,
At my workplace, our colleague Mukesh has just completed a port of
speex 1.2.1 to Palm OS. He had to write a couple of mathlib functions,
but the trunk remains unchanged.
It works quite well, I was wondering if there will be any interest in
this port in the distribution.

Specifying a response variable in a Bayesian network
I'm trying to teach myself about Bayesian Networks and am working with the
following data and the bnlearn package.
I understand the conceptual aspects of BNs, but I'm not sure how to specify
the response variables in R when constructing
a dag plot. I've cecked ?hc and done numerous google searches without luck.
Can anyone help?

Shares disconnect on XP when Offline Files enabled after migration from v2.x to v3.0.7
Issue:
Three WinXP Pro boxes using Offline Files disconnect from all
Samba shares when a user either performs a synch or accesses a file on the
share with offline files enabled. About half the time, being able to
reconnect for any length of time requires a reboot of the WinXP machines.
Disabling the Offline Files in Windows alleviates the problem.

One more thing: the patch changes the solis driver language to
Portuguese. Are these units sold outside of Brazil?
At some point, if we start supporting more drivers that are sold
regionally, it might be

Dovecot not listening when testing connection
Hi,
This is my environment:
