NAT friendly TFTP Server
Hello,
For those interested in overcoming the problem with some NATs and Firewalls in regards to tftp. I found a nice little tftp server here:
http://freshmeat.net/projects/jtftp/?topic_id=87
I tried it and it works great.
Regards,
Andres.

Enterprise-class monitoring system for CentOS and Win2k3 server
...s from various monitors. We want
this so we can see all components of a website in one place, eg,
apache URL, database server, disk storage, etc.
Attractive, easy to use GUI. We don't want a homebrew project with
ugly graphs and a web 1.0 GUI.
So far the products I have looked at are:
NimBUS
SolarWinds IP Monitor
WhatsUPGold
GroundWork Open Source
Nagios
And none of them have met all my requirements. Any suggestions?

7960 TFTP
Are there any known issues with Cisco 7960s and any particular TFTP
daemons? I cannot seem to get mine to speak to a Linux box, but
Solarwinds under Windows works like a charm.

IP Address Management / Open Source / IPAM
Does anyone have a recommendation for an Open Source IP Address Management
solution please?
There are several commercial players such as BlueCat, BT Diamond, InfoBlox,
VitalQIP. And, Solarwinds makes a module that focuses on IPAM.
Most vendors tie logic into DNS and DHCP into IPAM designs. In any case,
does anyone have awareness of an Open Source solution?
Thank you
Tom

boot issue with latest kernel
Hi all,
Has anyone seen this issue before? This afternoon, I tried updating a
bare metal CentOS 6 box, and got some odd error messages on the console
during booting kernel 2.6.32-754.11.1. (These aren't exact, I forgot
to try to get a photo of the console.)
sd 0:0:4:0 timed out resetting card
3w-sas timed out resetting card
Then the boot would simply hang, with no obvious disk activity on

Somewhat OT:
Hi,
I'm looking for a monitoring system that support snmp v3. I want to
monitorize linux servers and network switches. Currently, I am trying
to use zabbix, but sadly, it lack at present features that I need. For
example, I want to get reporting screens with data and graphs from
network switches, I'd like to configure one only port of a given
switch and that is used as templates for the

CentOS 8.0 1905 is now available for download
Heads up, Hyper-V Gen 2, CentOS 8 Server with GUI install results in a black screen as updates are needed for X to properly detect and load the video. If you can ssh into the box, do a yum update and it should grab the needed updates, then reboot.

systemd automount of cifs share hangs
*** This response is my personal opinion and may not reflect that of my employer. ***
I have never used the .automount file.... I have the .mount file configured for various SAMBA shares, and I simply issued "systemctl enable share-x-y-z.mount" to get them to mount on boot.

boot issue with latest kernel
Hi Keith,
Is this a VM running on top of Hyper-V by chance? There seems to be an issue with the combination of:
- Windows 10 1708 or newer.
- Hyper-V config version 8.2 - 9.0.
- Microsoft's Fix for Spectre and Meltdown.
- Newer Intel Hardware (Sandy Lake/Kaby Lake, etc.)
The workaround seems to be to remove "rhgb" and "quiet" from the kernel line in the GRUB config (you

Try "yum clean all", but I suspect you need to delete and rebuild the RPM database. I don't remember the commands for that offhand, but Google might help locate them.

CentOS 8 Boot.iso image DHCP4 not working?
I'm just wondering if anyone else is not getting a DHCPv4 address in Anaconda, using the CentOS 8 Boot.iso image? I get an IPv6 Autoconfig address, but it doesn't want to pick up a DHCPv4. This is in a Hyper-V Gen2 VM, connected to the same network all my other dev VMs are on, and picking up DHCPv4 without issue.
And, congratz to the CentOS team on 2 releases in a week (or so)!

C 7 installation annoyances
*** This response is my personal opinion and may not reflect that of my employer. ***
It seems recent updates to Anaconda and in particular Blivet in the CentOS 7 .iso are restricting things rather than expanding the options. We have a scenario where we are doing a CentOS 6 to CentOS 7 upgrade (replacement) using a backup partition to hold the install image. Over the years, as we added cloud

another bizarre thing...
Is this on both EL6 and EL7? If only EL7, it could be control groups causing the issue. The idea of cgroups is to prevent zombie processes, but if you need your program to spawn another process then restart itself while the other process continues to run, you need to launch it in a different control group, or the shutdown of the parent process will also kill the child. In my case, we have an
