Hi, I am trying to map solaris5.7 drectory to a win32PC using "file managaer". Do i need samba on the solaris side as well as the pc side?. How do i do this?. I am trying to map solaris to win31pc now and i get "computer - server not found". I see other solarises mapped. i can ftp/telnet from pc to solaris 5.7. Sam

Hi, I tried to map solaris to PC running 3.1 or 3.11 or so. That PC sees another solaris as it is mapped to it. No problem there. But to map to it the new solaris 5.7 system with latest samba i get "receiving computer is not responding". I did "ps -aef|grep smbd" and see it not running. nmbd is running. Hi, I have a small lan. solaris 2.7, 2.5 and a PCwin3.11. I am trying from the file manager in the pcwin3.1 to map solaris 2.7 to "k:". At the pcwin3.11 i get: "enter network password". I have a pcwin3.11. I was mapping solaris 2.5 with samba2.0.5 fine. I added the solaris2.7 system with samba2.0.7 to this small lan. Actaully this solaris 2.7 box was another 2.5 box that I upgraded it. I decided to use S99samba in /etc/rc2.d, during the boot up i see the message "samba started" or something like that but when i log in and do "ps -ef|grep mbd" i do not see neither smbd nor nmbd running. PC side gives me the error "computer not found" message. I move the S99samba to /etc/rc3.d and see no messages during the boot up. "ps ..." output is same
