Samba help
Folks I have a Centos7 system (SOFA) and want to install a Samba share named "STUFF" for the machines inside my home. All users in my home have read access to the share, but only one user "me" has write permission. The configuration below worked just fine when the Samba system was on Centos 6, but did not work under Centos 7. The client machine is Windows 10. I have

Robust or Sandwich estimates in lmer2
Dear R-Users: I am trying to find the robust (or sandwich) estimates of the standard error of fixed effects parameter estimates using the package "lmer2". In model-1, I used "robust=TRUE" on the other, in model-2, I used "robust=FALSE". Both models giving me the same estimates. So my question is, does the robust option works in lmer2 to get the robust estimates of

How to get p-values, seperate vectors of regression coefficients and their s.e. from the "yags" output?
Hello R-users: I am using "yags" for fitting GEE which is giving me the same result as "Proc GENMOD". Now I have couple of questions related to yags output. (By the way, someone told me to run the geeglm for the same analysis and I did run but did not get the same result as of genmod and don't know how to correct the geeglm codes so that all three will be same!)

Mi script R es muy lento
Hola, quiero compartir con vosotros mi problema y la solución que me han planteado. Mi programa carga Outcomes.csv y Set-A.csv (descargados de http://garrickadenbuie.com/blog/2013/04/11/visualize-physionet-data-with-r/, apartado Getting Started --> the code and the data set) de unos 50MB entre los dos. Mi código era: # Transforma csv a data frame seta <- read.csv('Set-A.csv');

update for 5.3
Hey its been over a week for updated 5.3 status... http://twitter.com/centos :) Not being silly, just got a couple motherboards sitting here collecting dust as 5.2 wont install on them. Hoping 5.3 will. with all the updated NIC drivers. By the way, KB, when I got married I had the understanding that I at least got a new computer every year! Got to set things straight from the beginning!

[LLVMdev] Socialize!
...ay-area social! I'd like to thank Alex Rosenberg from Sony Computer Entertainment America for helping make the arrangements this time. Meet your fellow developers on November 2nd at the Downtown Tiki Bar in San Mateo! We have the whole front area which has a mix of tall cocktail bar tables and sofas. Further, SCEA has kindly offered to pick up the tab (but please ensure that Alex gets your name and affiliation, he'll be there with a clipboard). Once again, I'd appreciate it if everyone could RSVP on http://llvmbayarea.appspot.com/ so that we can let the restaurant know in advance whet...

Writing a Quick Start Guide to Xapian
...depending who can make it. My company is moving offices soon, and would be able to provide lots of space easily, but not that soon, sadly. In the meantime if it's at a weekend I can offer our meeting space, which can accommodate 6-8 people, plus more if you're happy to sit on bean bags or sofas. It's located in Shepherd's Bush, West London. We also have fast internet access. I'll be in California from the 2nd to the 21st of October for a holiday and Blackberry DevCon, so couldn't do the week before the 21st, but could do the week after, if that is of any help. Andrew

live audio feed via telephone link
I'm looking into costs and feasibility of moving a live feed from a FM radio station from the station to a point that's past the usable range of their radio signal. It's a rural location and Internet service is not available at the station. If the destination was closer or their transmitter was more powerful, I could avoid this step and just plug in a radio, but.... My best idea so

Is There an Alternative to MEMDISK ?
This isn't an esp urgent issue, but I'd like to use a certain RAM diagnostic (Doc Mem) which I've already posted a note about a couple of months ago. Simply won't work booting the floppy disk image via MEMDISK. In the interim, I've tried to resolve this by changing things on my side. I'm pretty sure it's a XMS incompatibility, as it fails differently depending on

Extracting df (degree of freedom) & estfun (estimating function) from model built in lmer or lmer2

CMS Recommendations
Hello all, I’m moving to Rails from another OO language where I’ve built my own extensive CMS systems - and I’m the kind of guy who learns by breaking things and figuring out why they broke. Strange method but true - I guess I’m just the impatient sort :) Since I’m most familiar with CMS architecture and multi-level user/group/authenicated access systems I thought it logical to start with a

vampire fails because of Debian smbldap-tools problem
Hi people, As usual I've tried a number of different approaches to this problem and can't figure it out. I don't have enough knowledge. Every time I do net rpc vampire I get this crap spewed at me: Use of uninitialized value in substitution (s///) at /usr/share/perl5/smbldap_tools.pm line 106, <CONFIGFILE> line 233.
