unlockEnvironment()?
R lets one lock an environment with both an R function, base::lockEnvironment, and a C function, R_LockEnvironment, but, as far as I can tell, no corresponding function to unlock an environment. Is this omission on principle or just something that has not been done yet? I ask because several packages, including the well-used R6 and rlang packages, fiddle with some bits in with SET_ENVFLAGS and

HoMM 3 - SoD not working under FC6, but does in FC5
I am able to run HoMM 3 (3DO version) SoD expansion with the 3.2 update and the No CD crack on FC5. However it doesn't run on FC6. I tried disabling SELinux and that did not have an appreciable effect. I tried wine versions 0.9.24, 0.9.25 and 0.9.27. Here is the output on the terminal session: Script started on Fri 22 Dec 2006 09:12:34 AM CST ]0;heroes@heroes:~/.wine/drive_c/Program

Problem compiling 2.2.5
I'm trying to upgrade a very old sparcstation running Solaris 8 which is running dovecot 1.x for few users. All I have for the task is good old gcc 2.95.2. The poor sod complains because it can't compute the sizeof(unsigned char prefix_text[]) at line 13 of log-error-buffer.c. Can I help it by - say - putting a constant between the '[]'? Or is it unfair? :-) I don't think

Slightly OT and mildly insane: Modems through VoIP :-))
Hi, First off, let me state that _YES, I am fully aware that what I am doing is insane, prone to major havoc and bad for general health_ :-)) Scenario: My GF needs an analog modem to use with her banking software (sodding backs don't supply a decent web-application for company use). I am experimenting to see if we can get it to work (albeit slow) trough our ATA186 talking g711 to

re endcoding syntatx ices2?
G'day, doing a spot of reencoding on my 64k ogg files, trying to create a stream for those poor sods who are still on dial up. The syntax below works - gives me a 28k stream. Seems like the bitrate has little effect on the reencoding. Anyone know all the commands I can use - still no documentation for this ver2 of ices and icecast hey? <p> <encode>...

Man pages on HPUX (and others?)
HPUX doesn't seem to ship with a set of troff macros that can handle the OpenSSH manpages. Maybe other OSs have this problem? Rather than sodding about with the tmac/ directory, I think we should do one of two things: 1. Ship a set of preformatted manpages, and either auto-install them in $prefix/man/cat{1,1m} or just have instructions in INSTALL to do so 2. Recommend users install groff

Wine-users mail storm - long explanation
Hi All, >>>Clarification: I'm getting a flood of wine-users emails. Yes, I'm seeing this too. I spent all day today trying to understand why this is happening, and failed, but I think I have just now figured it out. As far as I can tell, the flood of messages are all the messages that were posted to the newsgroup since the last time the newsgroup and wine-users mailman list

thanks for the help guys
this was the first time I ever needed help with wine, and I get chased away... I get attitude and nothing more... I always thought WINE was a project like other GNU projects, with fellowship and support for each other... but I just get sodded off... I am now sitting with a game, which YOUR website claims runs in YOUR software, but I can't get it to run, and YOU won't advise me... looks

NA in wilcox.test
Hello, I'm trying to compare the allozyme data from two taxa. I have several columns of data (19 loci) for each species. I want to do a Mann-Whitney U-test or the wilcox.test (two sample Wilcoxon). When I try to run my code (the first two columns are 1:name of the species, 2:name of individual) I get the error message: "Error in wilcox.test.default(CaScSc, CaScCo, alternative

Possible buglet (wart ?) of odfWeave 0.7.6 (with workaround)
Dear List, I have had problems inserting some (not all !) figures via odfWeave (using print(someLatticeFunction)...). The figure was correctly displayed in a R device window but the resulting ODF document displayed the correct space for the figure and an empty frame with a "broken image" icon and a "read error" mention. Exploration of the odf (.odt, in my case) file showed

ip phone suggestion for Asia?
Hi: i am surveying ip phones for our company. we will use them with asterisk. we have office in taiwan, hong kong, singapore and china. cisco and polycom are too expensive for us. we try several china brand ip phones. they are all cheap and some of them have good quality. but most of them won't offer future firmware support, which we think it's important for ip phones.
