194 Kernel Panic; 164 is Fine; How Do I Debug?
.... kernel-PAE-2.6.18-164.15.1.el5 is the last "works fine" kernel, but kernel-PAE-2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 crashes at boot every time. I tried banging on the side of the monitor to no avail. All kidding aside, here are pictures of my monitor when booting 194 in case that is helpful. http://jt-socal.com/sites/jt-socal.com/files/kernel-panic.jpg http://jt-socal.com/sites/jt-socal.com/files/just-before-crashing.jpg Any suggestions on fixing this? -- Sincerely, John Thomas

Asterisk guru wanted, SoCal (LA/OC/San Bernardino County)
We've mostly gotten our Asterisk install working, but there are a couple glitches I haven't been able to fix. I'm looking for someone who knows Asterisk, can do some consulting work, and is in Southern California. Los Angeles or Orange County are ok, but I'd prefer someone in the Inland Empire, with strongest preference given to people here in the High Desert or in the San

Name Resolution Broken for One Address
I seem to have broken my laptop and have been unable to figure it out. Name resolution works great, except one address, which seems to be resolving to 0.0.0.1. Could you help me figure out what I have done and fix it? The following lines are in /etc/hosts 192.168.11.1 dev.example.com 192.168.11.1 dev1.example.com Pinging any other address that I try works, except dev.example.com.

corrupt/invalid wav
I posted the bug at http://sourceforge.net/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=130992&group_id=13478 . Since all my other discs were encoding fine I thought that the wav file may be corrupt/invalid/or something. I opened them with cool edit and "saved as"ed them to my drive. These files encoded fine and the extraced/converted files have the correct md5sum. Is there a program that can

BDC, documentation, Machine Accounts Keep Expiring
Hello! I want to create BDC with smbpasswd backend, just because I run ldap master on the same machine as PDC and I don't think that using ldap backend will be far better for me. Only thing I don't understand: I read in howto: <quote> Machine Accounts Keep Expiring This problem will occur when the passdb (SAM) files are copied from a central server but the local Backup

Admin question[s]
Hello, I'm brand new to this streaming stuff so please bear with me. I have installed and am running icecast 1.3.10, ices latest version: 0.0.1 beta5 and/or shout 0.8.0. No major problems with the exception of the clients like to drop off [and I see this problem posted before but didn't see any fix for it]. Btw... this is on Linux Slackware 7 operating system. My question is

VMWare - 5.2 Update - Kernel Best Practices
Thanks for all the great stuff. Executive Summary: Kernel Parameters or Special Kernel for 5.2 on VMWare? More Details: Is it the best practice to use the specially compiled kernels (when available, typically here: http://people.centos.org/~tru/kernel-vm/5/RPMS/i386/ ) or are kernel parameters now able to achieve the same thing? This bug report: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2189 seems

corrupt/invalid wav
...h your wav. the -p option is causing the problem. -p drastically increases the runtime and only improves the compression by a tiny bit, which is why it is only turned on in -9. until the bug is fixed it is safer to not use -p (but -V will catch any errors -p causes). --- Kevin Pullin <kpullin@socal.rr.com> wrote: > I posted the bug at > http://sourceforge.net/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=130992&group_id=13478 > . kernel-vm - humble request
Look, I pay nothing for an incredible operating system with enormous features and stability, so it feels a bit awkward asking for more. [Sarcasm On] Now, get going and build me up a 5.3 kernel-vm's would ya? ;) [Sarcasm Off} -- Humbly, John Thomas

eAccelerator RPM for php5
Does anybody know where I can find an RPM of eAccelerator for the php 5.0.4-5 in CentOS Plus REPO? RPMFORGE has an eAccelerator rpm, but for php4. If not, is there an easy/better way to provide php speed up with php5.0.4-5? If not, would it be possible for a rookie, like me, to build an RPM from source? I might take a run at that as a last resort? Any simple howto links would be

Problem and solution, not sure if correct After upgrading to 5.1 and restarting, lm_sensors complained "General Parse Error." Google pointed here: http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/Devices Where I found this under "SENSOR CHIP DRIVERS - STATUS" AMD --> "Since Kernel 2.6.19" Latest AMD K8 processors have integrated sensors which can be read directly without any
