VIF drop with snv_134
Hello, I have a Sun X4140 running snv_134 as a Dom0 with a CentOS 4.8 (for Oracle 9i) and an Opensolaris DomU running on it with 4 NICs configured. I''m experiencing the virtual NICs dropping on the host. The Dom0 NICs are up and fine, and I am able to xm console into the DomU. The only metric that I have which seem useful is th...

Booting fails with `Can not read the pool label'' error
...Unable to mount root pool dataset http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=492460 Since the Blade 1500''s rpool is mirrored, I''ve decided to detach the second half of the mirror, relabel the disk, create an alternative rpool (rpool2) there, copy the current BE (snv_134) using beadm create -p rpool2 snv_be-pkg143, activate the new BE and boot from the second disk. Unfortunately, this doesn''t work: the kernel panics with Can not read the pool label from <device> spa_import_rootpool: Error 5 I''ve booted under kmdb, set a breakpoin...

Kernel panic on import / interrupted zfs destroy
I have a box running snv_134 that had a little boo-boo. The problem first started a couple of weeks ago with some corruption on two filesystems in a 11 disk 10tb raidz2 set. I ran a couple of scrubs that revealed a handful of corrupt files on my 2 de-duplicated zfs filesystems. No biggie. I thought that my problems had som...

Another MPT issue - kernel crash
Hi all, I have faced yet another kernel panic that seems to be related to mpt driver. This time i was trying to add a new disk to a running system (snv_134) and this new disk was not being detected...following a tip i ran the lsitool to reset the bus and this lead to a system panic. MPT driver : BAD TRAP: type=e (#pf Page fault) rp=ffffff001fc98020 addr=4 occurred in module "mpt" due to a NULL pointer dereference If someone has a similar p...

slog / log recovery is here!
(From the README) # Jeb Campbell <jebc at c4solutions.net> NOTE: This is last resort if you need your data now. This worked for me, and I hope it works for you. If you have any reservations, please wait for Sun to release something official, and don''t blame me if your data is gone. PS -- This worked for me b/c I didn''t try and replace the log on a running system. My

ZFS recovery tools
Hi, I have just recovered from a ZFS crash. During the antagonizing time this took, I was surprised to learn how undocumented the tools and options for ZFS recovery we''re. I managed to recover thanks to some great forum posts from Victor Latushkin, however without his posts I would still be crying at night... I think the worst example is the zdb man page, which all it does is to ask you

Migrating zpool to new drives with 4K Sectors
Hi ZFS Discuss, I have a 8x 1TB RAIDZ running on Samsung 1TB 5400rpm drives with 512b sectors. I will be replacing all of these with 8x Western Digital 2TB drives with support for 4K sectors. The replacement plan will be to swap out each of the 8 drives until all are replaced and the new size (~16TB) is available with a `zfs scrub`. My question is, how do I do this and also factor in the new

Erratic behavior on 24T zpool
...ason for this. I''m getting bad to medium performance with my new test storage device. I''ve got 24 1.5T disks with 2 SSDs configured as a zil log device. I''m using the Areca raid controller, the driver being arcmsr. Quad core AMD with 16 gig of RAM OpenSolaris upgraded to snv_134. The zpool has 2 11-disk raidz2''s and I''m getting anywhere between 1MB/sec to 40MB/sec with zpool iostat. On average, though it''s more like 5MB/sec if I watch while I''m actively doing some r/w. I know that I should be getting better performance. I''m ne...

ZFS send/receive to Solaris/FBSD/OpenIndiana/Nexenta VM guest?
Hello, I''m debating an OS change and also thinking about my options for data migration to my next server, whether it is on new or the same hardware. Migrating to a new machine I understand is a simple matter of ZFS send/receive, but reformatting the existing drives to host my existing data is an area I''d like to learn a little more about. In the past I''ve asked about

Making a zvol unavailable to iSCSI trips up ZFS
I''ve been experimenting with a two system setup in snv_134 where each system exports a zvol via COMSTAR iSCSI. One system imports both its own zvol and the one from the other system and puts them together in a ZFS mirror. I manually faulted the zvol on one system by physically removing some drives. What I expect to happen is that ZFS will fault the zv...

No ACL inheritance with aclmode=passthrough in onnv-134
Hi list, while preparing for the changed ACL/mode_t mapping semantics coming with onnv-147 [1], I discovered that in onnv-134 on my system ACLs are not inherited when aclmode is set to passthrough for the filesystem. This very much puzzles me. Example: $ uname -a SunOS os 5.11 snv_134 i86pc i386 i86pc $ pwd /Volumes/ACLs/dir1 $ zfs list | grep /Volumes rpool/Volumes 7,00G 39,7G 6,84G /Volumes $ zfs get aclmode, aclinherit rpool/Volumes NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE rpool/Volumes aclmode passthrough local rpool/Volumes aclinherit passthrough...
